Pulse’s Biography

Jack Estrada, known in the game as Pulse, was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Raised on various military bases across the United States, Germany, Turkey, and Japan, Jack's upbringing was steeped in a military environment. His parents had deep ties to the U.S. military, which influenced his career path.

Fascinated by science, Jack focused on Forensic Science and Biochemistry, making him a perfect candidate for the FBI's Biometrics Program. His academic excellence led him to secure a role as an FBI agent. His high emotional intelligence and crisis management skills earned him a spot on the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team (HRT). Pulse’s signature gadget, the Cardiac Sensor, was one of several prototypes he developed during his tenure.

Pulse’s Loadout

Pulse's loadout is versatile and well-suited for different scenarios in Rainbow Six Siege.

Primary Weapons

Pulse can choose between the M1014 Shotgun and the UMP45 Submachine Gun. The M1014 Shotgun is excellent for close-quarters combat and destruction tasks, particularly when paired with C4 for vertical plays.

The UMP45 Submachine Gun, while reliable, has a lower fire rate, putting Pulse at a disadvantage against more rapid-firing attacker weapons.

Secondary Weapons

His secondary weapon choices are the M45 MEUSOC Handgun and the 5.7 USG Handgun. These sidearms provide solid backup options when his primary weapons run out of ammunition.

Gadgets

Pulse’s gadget options include Barbed Wire and C4. While Barbed Wire can slow down enemies and provide strategic advantages, the C4 is almost indispensable for Pulse players.

The combination of the Cardiac Sensor and C4 allows Pulse to perform lethal vertical plays, taking out unsuspecting attackers through floors and walls.

How to Use Pulse’s Gadget

Pulse’s gadget, the Cardiac Sensor, is a powerful tool but requires strategic use. While the sensor allows Pulse to see heartbeats through walls, using it exposes him to danger as it takes time to switch back to a weapon.

Effective use of the Cardiac Sensor involves strong game knowledge and communication with teammates. It’s not just about spotting an attacker and using C4; Pulse needs to provide precise, real-time information about enemy movements. Skilled Pulse players prioritize intel over direct engagement, using the sensor to change the round's dynamics and set up their team for success.

Pulse’s Role in Rainbow Six Siege

Pulse's role varies depending on the map and the site being defended. His ability to gather information makes him invaluable in any situation.

Anchor Role

On maps like Bank, Pulse can serve as an anchor in the basement bomb site. From the Gold Vault, he can use his Cardiac Sensor to provide crucial information to teammates.

If paired with operators like Smoke, who have throwable devices, Pulse can significantly hinder attackers trying to plant the defuser.

Roamer Role

On maps such as Consulate, Pulse can act as a roamer. Operating from areas like the Piano Room, Antechamber, and Lobby, he can track attackers attempting to rappel to the site’s windows or plant the defuser. His mobility allows him to relay vital information and reposition quickly to counter the attackers' strategies.

Flexible Support

On Coastline, while defending Hookah and Billiards, Pulse can provide support from Sunrise Bar. Detecting operators outside or rappelling can change the course of the round, especially with timely use of his C4. The proximity to Cool Vibes stairs enables quick rotations back to the site, though attackers may attempt to clear his position.

Counters to Pulse

Despite his strengths, Pulse has notable counters that can neutralize his effectiveness.

IQ’s Electronics Detector

IQ can detect Pulse using her Electronics Detector. This device allows IQ to spot Pulse through walls when he is using his Cardiac Sensor. A well-placed headshot from IQ's handgun can swiftly eliminate Pulse, making her a significant threat to his strategy.

Twitch’s Special Drones

Twitch can disable the Cardiac Sensor with her drones’ tasers. When her drones hit Pulse's device, it temporarily stops functioning, taking away his ability to track enemies. This gives attackers a critical window to move without being detected.

Thatcher’s EMPs

Thatcher’s EMP grenades can disable Pulse’s Cardiac Sensor. When Thatcher's EMPs go off, they render Pulse's gadget useless for a short period, forcing him to rely on his weapons and traditional tactics. This disruption can be pivotal during key moments in a match.
