The Shanghai Major is here, and you know what that means—Souvenir cases! Sure, the odds aren’t great. Most of the time, you’ll end up with a low-tier skin that can’t even be traded up. But then there’s that tiny chance, that one-in-a-million shot, of pulling something incredible from the Mirage or Dust 2 collections.

If you’re in the mood to have a little fun and celebrate the Major, here’s everything you need to know about grabbing Souvenirs from the Perfect World Shanghai Major.

What Are Souvenir Packages?

Souvenir packages are a unique type of CS2 weapon case, offering skins from the collections tied to the current active-duty map pool. The collection you receive depends on the match linked to your package, making these items not only rare but also highly sentimental for fans.

Before 2019, getting a souvenir package was as simple as watching professional tournaments. If you were spectating a match in the CS:GO client, you had a chance to receive a random package in your inventory whenever key moments happened during the game.

That all changed with the Starladder Berlin Major in 2019. Now, players cannot claim souvenir packages just by watching matches. Instead, you’ll need to buy a Viewer Pass or purchase souvenir tokens from the in-game store. These tokens allow you to redeem a package from the match of your choice.

How to get Souvenir package from the CS2 Shanghai Major

If you’re looking to snag Souvenir packages from the Shanghai Major, you’ll need Souvenir tokens and there are three ways to get them. Here’s a breakdown of your options:

1. Buying Tokens Directly

The simplest method is to purchase Souvenir tokens from Valve. Each token costs $2.99 and can be redeemed for a Souvenir package from any completed match. These packages include CS2 Major stickers featuring the teams, event, and MVP.

Considering the long-term value of Souvenir packages, many sell for significantly more than $2.99. However, you’ll need to buy the Viewer Pass first before you can purchase individual tokens.

2. Earning Tokens Through Pick’Ems

The Viewer Pass also unlocks the Pick’Ems challenge, where correct predictions can earn you Souvenir tokens as you upgrade your Major coin. Starting at bronze and progressing to silver, gold, and diamond, you can earn up to three tokens by ranking up. It’s a great way to earn “free” Souvenirs while testing your knowledge of the esport.

A step-by-step guide to redeeming a Souvenir package

  1. Head to the 'MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIP HUB & ITEMS' tab on the left side of the main menu.
  2. Select the finished stage with the teams you want to receive stickers from (Opening Stage, Elimination Stage and Playoffs).
  3. Select a match from which you want to receive a Souvenir package.

Should you purchase Souvenir tokens?

The short answer: not really—unless you’re okay with spending extra cash for slim odds. Souvenir packages have notoriously low chances of containing a Covert skin, with odds sitting at a mere 0.027%, far worse than the 0.26% chance of unboxing a rare special item from a standard case.

To make matters worse, Souvenir skins are excluded from trade-ups, meaning you’re stuck with what you get. Unless you’re redeeming the free Souvenir packages included with the Viewer Pass, spending money on these packages is more likely to leave you disappointed than excited.

If you’re feeling lucky or just want a cool keepsake from the Shanghai Major, go for it. Otherwise, it’s best to save your money for other investments in CS2.

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
