Worlds 2025 is down to just four teams. Among them, the eventual champions await to have their names engraved in gold. But first, they must prove themselves.

The first Semifinal sees Gen.G take on KT Rolster, two teams who, despite their vastly different paths this year, have a rich history with one another and will drive two of the most in-form players in the world on a collision course.

Let's go over everything you need to know about this do-or-die clash between Gen.G and KT Rolster, set to kick off this Saturday, November 1st, at 8 am CET.

Gen.G Face Their Kryptonite

Few teams in the history of competitive League of Legends have had a year quite as remarkable as that of Gen.G in 2025. The star-studded team has failed to win just one of the tournaments they have participated in so far this year, which was the LCK Cup back in February.

Ever since, Gen.G have been on a tear. The team arrived at Worlds 2025 with three consecutive titles under their their belts, including back-to-back international trophies at MSI and the Esports World Cup. What's more, Gen.G have been utterly dominant in the LCK — quite possibly the strongest league on the planet — finishing the first half of the season with an undefeated 18-0 record.

For all of Gen.G's dominance, though, KT always manage to look competitive against them. In the LCK Playoffs leading up to Worlds, KT beat Gen.G when they looked a step above the competition, delivering them a shock and sending them to the lower bracket for good measure.

Though Gen.G were able to score revenge by sweeping KT in a rematch just days later, the team can't afford to be caught off-guard by KT again; not with the Worlds title within arm's reach.

KT Rolster Continue to Shock the World

If Gen.G seem built to dominate, then KT are made to polarize. The team finished this year's LCK season with a 14-16 record in the Group Stage, failing to impress time and again. Their shaky performance throughout the year meant that KT would miss every single international event in 2025; all except for Worlds, that is.

With the year coming to a close, KT shocked everybody by taking down Gen.G in the LCK Playoffs, guaranteeing themselves at least a third seed at Worlds. After their amazing win against the best team in the league, KT went on to get swept in back-to-back series by Hanwha Life Esports in the upper bracket and then Gen.G in the lower bracket.

KT spent the next three weeks without playing a single official match, then showed up at Worlds 2025 in stellar form to become the only team to go undefeated in the Swiss Stage. That's not all, though. In fact, after sweeping CTBC Flying Oyster in the Quarterfinals, KT arrive to the Semifinals of Worlds without dropping a single game at the tournament.

Now the only question is: which KT Rolster will show up next against Gen.G?

Matchup to Watch: Chovy vs Bdd

When Gen.G and KT Rolster take the stage for their Semifinals match, fans will get treated to a bout between the best player in the world, and the most in-form player in the scene.

Chovy Seeks Eternal Glory

After lifting the MSI and Esports World Cup trophies earlier this year, Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon appears to be putting his international disappointments behind him. Still, despite being widely recognized as the best player in the world for several years running now, Chovy is yet to win a Worlds title.

With a squad packed to the brim with talent this time around, Chovy and Gen.G simply won't get a better shot than this. To reach the trophy, though, Chovy's efficient and lane-dominant style of play will need to continue to provide his team with solid leads on a stage that leaves no margin for error.

Bdd Reaches Ultimate Form

Over on the other side of this Mid Lane matchup we have Gwak "Bdd" Bo-sung, a player with ridiculous amounts of experience, yet someone who always seems to fly under the radar. At Worlds 2025, though, Bdd has made sure to make his presence known.

Not only was the KT Mid Laner almost single-handedly responsible for getting his team to Worlds 2025 after stellar performances in the LCK Playoffs, but now Bdd has carried that form over to Worlds, creating magic for his team on the biggest stage.

At Worlds so far, Bdd has proven uncontainable as he holds the highest KDA out of all players at the tournament at a whopping 19.33. What's more, he also holds the highest kill participation (81.7%) among all Mid Laners, demonstrating just how important he is to his team.

While Chovy is Gen.G's hands and feet, Bdd is KT's heart and soul. Who's to say which plays a bigger role in the pursuit of victory?

Prediction: Who Heads to the Grand Finals?

Gen.G and KT Rolster have faced each other a total of 7 times in 2025, with Gen.G dominating the head-to-head with a 6-1 record. Crucially for KT, though, the team have shown they are capable of beating Gen.G. Carrying that knowledge in the back of their minds will no doubt do wonders for their confidence coming into the match.

For all of KT's incredible run of form, however, Gen.G's run at this year's Worlds carries an intangible, almost fateful force behind it, begging the question: will KT turn out to be just another pebble in Chovy's inevitable run to the trophy?

Prediction: Expect this to be a truly lights-out clash as both teams look to put it all on the line. In the end, though, we predict Gen.G to take the series 3-2.

Our voters also believe Gen.G will claim the win, with an overwhelming 81% of the Strafe fan votes picking the team to take the match.
