Gaimin Gladiators dominated the 2023 DPC Season. The team secured multiple trophies at various LANs throughout the season and took the runner-up spot at The International 2023. Recently, the team’s dominant year record gained the attention of the esports community, as Gaimin Gladiators has been nominated for esports team of the year.

It is not the first time Gaimin’s success has received the attention of the esports community. Earlier this year, their newest addition to the team, the team’s midlaner, Quinn "Quinn" Callahan, became one of the final nominees for Esports Player of the Year. Along with him, the team’s coach, Aske “Cy-” Larsen, also made it as the final nominee for the esports coach of the year.

What Is The Games Awards?

The Game Awards is a yearly awards ceremony that recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of the video game industry. It was founded in 2014 and hosted by game journalist Geoff Keighley.

The event encompasses a range of categories for the gaming community, from the best streamer of the year to awarding the top esports ceremony of the year. The event also features premieres for upcoming games and new information on previously announced titles.

Broken Records

Before the start of the 2023 DPC Season, Gaimin Gladiators parted ways with their midlaner, Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan. After the roster shuffle, they brought in Quinn.

It was a controversial move and received some criticism at the time because of the player’s past actions. Additionally, Quinn had shown lackluster performance in his role on his former teams, which added more disbelief to the move. Moreover, Team Liquid’s roster shuffle overshadowed the move.

As the season kicked off, Gaimin surprised everyone by winning The Lima Major trophy, a strong statement by the team. They continued their dominant performance at the ESL One Berlin Major and won another trophy. After that, they went on to win every LAN they attended.

An Unfortunate Upset

Eventually, their unstoppable record ended at The Riyadh Masters 2023, where Talon Esports eliminated them. Moreover, as The International 2023 drew near, the team started showing its cracks. At The International 2023, an unfortunate upset at the seeding decider series puts them in the lower bracket.

However, the team braced through the lower brackets, eliminating every opponent on the way to the grand finals. However, Team Spirit in the grand finals stopped them from etching their names onto the Aegis Of Champions.

Their journey to get names immortalized was put to an end by a stiff opponent, but more challenges lie in their journey to be the best Esports Team of the year.

The results for the nominations will be out on December 7. Fans can vote for Gaimin Gladiators here.
