After nearly three weeks of incredible action and unlikely upsets that saw a lot of favourites getting eliminated, The Lima Major has officially concluded. Gaimin Gladiators come out triumphing and getting crowned as The Lima Major champions.

Team Liquid was the favourite to win the tournament but a sudden medical emergency changed the tides for Gaimin Gladiators. As they advanced to the grand finals of The Lima Major, Gaimin Gladiators was considered the favourite as Team Liquid had to play without their position 4, Boxi. The grand finals were also a rematch of the upper bracket finals. Team Liquid had to go through Talon Esports in the lower bracket finals to earn their rematch. Team Liquid gave some hope to the fans against Talon Esports. However, it wasn’t enough to go up against Gaimin Gladiators.

The Recap

In game 1, Team Liquid drafted a Tusk mid with a Nature Prophet safelane hard carry. GG brilliantly addressed the issue by drafting Timbersaw mid and a Lina safelane hard carry. GG performed marvellously, reading Team Liquid like a book. Even though GG made some mistakes during the midgame, tOfu managed to step up with his Rubick. At 45 minutes, with 46K gold in the net worth lead, GG ended game 1.

GG dominated Team Liquid in game 2. Quinn was phenomenal on midlane Pangolier, winning the lane, initiating fights and making space for his hard carry to farm. Closing the map bit by bit, Team Liquid eventually tapped out at 21 minutes to the score of 26 -6 and a 17K gold net worth lead by GG.

Game 3 saw uncontroversial picks on both sides. Team Liquid drafted an Ancient Apparition midlane, with GG picking a Witch Doctor offlane. Team Liquid did a great job securing early kills and building a net-worth lead in the early game. However, as the game progresses, GG sniffs out weaknesses in Team Liquid’s plans and punishes them dearly. As the game commences to the late game, Team Liquid’s hard carry, Tiny, got outpaced by GG’s hard carry, Lina. Having no more answers to Lina’s game and the game, Team Liquid eventually tapped out at 42 minutes to a score of 19-31 and a net worth lead of 33K gold.

First Win

Gaimin Gladiators did well in their regional leagues before coming to The Lima Major. In The Lima Major, they surpass everyone’s expectations to become the champions. The Major tournament win for the team included Anton “dyrachyo” Shkrevdov, Quinn “Quinn” Callahan, Erik “tOfu” Engel and Melchior “Seleri” Hillankamp. This win also makes Seleri the first Dutch player to win a DPC Major.GG secured $ 200,000 USD in tournament winnings and 400 DPC points. Now with the conclusion of The Lima Major, the patch update is on the horizon.
