From the beginning of the MSI series between G2 Esports and Top Esports (TES), it was evident that G2 came prepared to fight in the same level as their opponents. In the first game, G2's bot lane duo of Hans Sama and Mikyx showcased top-tier synergy, effectively shutting down TES's bot lane and paving the way for Caps to emerge as the dominant force he usually is on the Rift. With two very-well fed ADCs, G2 secured the first victory in just 28 minutes, setting the stage for their dominance throughout the series.

In subsequent matches, G2's superiority only became more apparent. Mikyx and Yike's coordination neutralized Jackeylove's Draven, while Hans Sama's exceptional performance secured G2 another victory to put the series 2-0. Despite TES's best efforts to surprise G2 in the third match, BrokenBlade's performance in the top lane sealed G2's clean sweep, cementing their status as the superior team in the series.

Reviving the East vs. West rivalry

G2 Esports triumph over Top Esports not only solidifies their position as a title contender but also reignites the age-old debate surrounding the prowess of Eastern and Western teams in international competitions. Historically, Eastern teams have often held the upper hand in global tournaments, with their meticulous strategies and mechanical abilities often outmatching their Western counterparts.

However, G2's victory serves as a strong standing to the growing strength and resilience of Western teams in the global League of Legends scene. By delivering one of the most dominant performances against one of China's top teams, G2 proved that Western teams are more than capable of competing at the highest level and challenging the dominance of their Eastern rivals.

As the competition progresses, fans can expect even more intense matchups and rivalries to unfold. With the next matches being T1 against Team Liquid and Gen.G versus BLG, the MSI 2024 tournament promises to continue thrilling us with a showcase of skill, strategy, and determination as teams from around the world vie for supremacy on the international stage.

The question for G2's fans now is: How much further can they go? Is the MSI 2024 title within reach?

Stay tuned to Strafe and you will certainly find out the answer.

Born to Demacian occultists, Locke grew up learning a brutal lesson: demons are not the source of humanity’s darkness, but its consequence. That belief drives his mission now—to tear through every soul, expose its hidden rot, and make the world a little more honest, one exorcism at a time.
