Back in August 2024, reports emerged of Nikola "NiKo" Kovač leaving G2 Esports for Team Falcons. These reports were confirmed in November, with the Shanghai Major serving as NiKo’s final event under the organization’s banner.

Despite delivering stellar performances, NiKo and G2 Esports fell short at the 2024 Shanghai Major, losing 0-2 to FaZe Clan and finishing in 3rd-4th place. NiKo now heads to Team Falcons, where he is reportedly set to join the Heroic trio of Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski, René "TeSeS" Madsen and Abdul "degster" Gasanov.

With their star departing, G2 Esports has begun seeking a replacement to fill the void left by NiKo. Enter HeavyGod, an Israeli-Ukrainian rifler who recently competed under the Cloud9 banner. According to reports by CIS Insiders OverDrive and neL, the 22-year-old is expected to join the roster as its fifth player.

The OG alumnus has been one of the top-performing players on both his Counter-Strike 2 teams. He possesses the firepower to support G2 Esports. However, the combined experience of malbsMd, HeavyGod, and m0NESY amounts to only two years more than NiKo’s individual tenure.

Ensuring that this lack of experience does not impact the squad’s performance will now be the responsibility of the team’s leadership—TaZ and Snax—who must guide the young players to meet the high standards the team has established over the years.

With these changes, the rumored G2 Esports roster for 2025 is as follows:

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
