The EMEA organization Fnatic announced on Twitter that LEC Top Laner Óscar "Oscarinin" Muñoz Jiménez will be swapped out due to a hand injury.

FNC's Reasoning

In FNC's tweet, they explained that the top laner "suffered a hand injury". It was noticeable to any viewer watching their series against EXCEL, where the winner would officially qualify for the 2023 World Championship. It is likely that FNC and Oscarinin both wanted to ensure they would get to Worlds before letting Oscarinin rest his hand. This reasoning raises concern for Oscarinin's recovery. Hopefully he did not push himself too far that he won't be able to play for Worlds.

Words From the Man Himself

In short translation, he speaks about his hand injury. He explains his relief of having made it to Worlds and apologizes for his potential underperformance due to this hand. He then goes on to describe his excitement for Worlds as it "is something that motivates [him] a lot".

Until His Return

FNC has confirmed that the LEC veteran Top Laner Martin "Wunder" Hansen will be filling in for Oscarinin. Wunder for Summer split was in the role of temporary substitute. This comes after Oscarinin joined from academy roster and replaced Wunder. It is in question by the fan base whether Wunder will be able to perform to high expectations. These next matches that Wunder will play dictate FNC's seed placement for Worlds. Watch out for FNC's next game on September 2nd as they face a Bo5 series versus BDS.
