Having won a record-high 4th League of Legends World Championships, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok turns into a machine whenever he jumps onto the rift. It is rare, however, that we get to catch a glimpse of the more human side of the mid laner.

This past Tuesday night, we were allowed to do just that, as the greatest League of Legends player of all time, T1 Faker, streamed an AMA (ask me anything) event on SOOP for his fans.

Staying Motivated in Esports

  • Faker stated in his AMA that he believes the key to staying motivated even after a very long is finding enjoyment in what you do.
  • He argued, however, that fun alone is not enough, but that you must be able to also find purpose in what you do.
  • He used solo queue in League of Legends as an example, explaining that while it can be fun, losing consistently can make it feel purposeless and discouraging.
  • He encourages everyone to find the balance between fun and purpose on their own.

Hobbies and Interests

  • Faker enjoys classical music and has recently been listening to K-pop groups Supernova and NewJeans. He's trying to stop, though, because he doesn't think catchy music is good for the brain.
  • He prides himself on his ability to cook fried eggs and ramyeon. When pressed about it, he declared he does consider that cooking, since you must fry the egg, and you need to turn on the stove to make ramyeon.
  • Faker swims once a week, down from twice a week. He's only able to swim in freestyle stroke, so he sticks with that.

Personal Style and Preferences

  • Faker hasn’t considered getting a perm, as his hair already has a natural curve.
  • He only reads what he's already got on his bookshelf, which mainly consists of books gifted by fans.
  • The T1 denim jacket is Faker's top pick from T1's merchandise, which he finds extremely comfortable and wears often. He suggests T1 should introduce more pants to their merchandise line, specifically rainbow-colored pajama pants.

Fun Tidbits

  • Reflecting on his childhood, Faker realized that being a professional gamer might have been his dream job since elementary school.
  • He expressed he also had an interest in becoming a scientist, however, because he liked "digging into things."
  • He occasionally plays 1v1 matches against his teammate Zeus before official matches, and he argues that they have an even win rate of about 50/50.
  • The cactus gifted by G2 Caps before the 2023 World Championship is still alive and thriving in T1’s practice room.

Faker's most recent AMA was an interesting insight into the mind of one of the most important esports athletes of all time. It was a refreshing experience seeing someone so focused and dedicated to the game be able to let loose and have some fun with the things his fans wonder about him.

In the closing stages of the AMA, Faker assured the viewers that he's focused on the LCK Summer Season and getting the results his team needs. You can catch the full VOD of Faker's stream here.

Faker's next match in the LCK comes this Friday, July 26th, against KT Rolster.

Locke in League of Legends: Abilities, Playstyle, Release Date

Riot’s newest champion, Corvin Locke, arrives as a nail-slinging exorcist versed in forbidden rites, shaped by a childhood steeped in Demacian lies and hypocrisy. Born to Demacian occultists, Locke grew up learning a brutal lesson: demons are not the source of humanity’s darkness, but its consequence. That belief drives his mission now—to tear through every soul, expose its hidden rot, and make the world a little more honest, one exorcism at a time.
