The new Dota 2 season will look quite different than before. As roster shuffles have taken place, Evil Geniuses, the North American esports organization, has joined the fray.

Recently, there were multiple reports of the organization going through massive layoffs, and unfortunately, EG's Dota 2 roster has also parted ways with the organization after an unsuccessful 2023 DPC season. The team’s social manager confirmed the reports via X( formerly known as Twitter)

This decision means all five of EG’s players, Crhistian “ Pakazs” Savina, Jean “ Chris Luck” Salazar, Adrián Whisper” Dobles, Farith “ Matthew” Puente, and Jose “ Panda” Padilla are now free agents. It is uncertain whether these players will stick together or find individual opportunities, as they are no longer part of the EG roster.

Evil Geniuses were the dominant team in North America for a long time. They even won The International 2015 with a lineup of players from different countries, representing them in a true American fashion.

However, with time, the team's performance started to decline. In the following years, they managed to qualify for The International but failed to make deep runs.

Thus, the organization started to take a new approach for the 2023 DPC Season. The team moved to South America. They picked players from Thunder Awaken and mashed it up with upcoming talents from the region.

At first, their decision yielded promising results. However, things started to go downhill for them as their performance deteriorated rapidly. Their fate was sealed at The International 2023, where the team struggled and had an early exit.

Moreover, Evil Geniuses also recently made headlines as their former star midlaner, Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan, sued them for taking advantage of him. The case will go to trial this month, and several personalities from the Dota 2 community will appear as witnesses.

South America had an early exit at The International 2023. However, the region has shown remarkable improvement in recent years. At The International 2022, the region even secured a record 5th-6th place finish. They can certainly bounce back in the coming season.

The former Evil Geniuses roster comprises talented players from this region, who will undoubtedly find a new team with ease. Players of their caliber are highly sought after in the professional Dota 2 scene.

Some or most players will likely sign with Beastcoast, as the team has let go of its Dota 2 roster. Beastcoast is a native of the South American Dota 2 community, and they have stated that they will remain active. Evil Geniuses had yet to make an official announcement regarding the matter.

With Valve ending the official DPC season, the new dawn of Dota 2 awaits. Fans eagerly wait to see how it unfolds as time has all the answers.
