The Group stages for the DreamLeague Season 20 concluded. Although Group B had the teams for the next step cut out for them, it was a three-way tie between Tundra Esports, Evil Geniuses and Team Secret in Group A. The tiebreakers were intense, and Evil Geniuses were triumphant when the dust had finally settled. They secured the last remaining slot as Tundra and Team Secret got eliminated.

Being a relegated team, Team Secret surprised many fans at DreamLeague Season 20. The team dominated the Groups in the early days. However, they crumbled under pressure in recent days. DreamLeague Season 20 was also the debut for the new Team Secret’s offlaner as they went through a roster shuffle at the end of The Summer Tour.

The TieBreakers

Tundra Esports Vs Team Secret

Tundra Esports dominated the tiebreakers series against Team Secret. In the laning stage, both teams traded blows. However, at the end of the laning stage, as Tundra were behind, they started to bring numbers to skirmishes, and having the number advantage, Tundra quickly took control of the early team fights.

Having Puck, Batrider and Spirit Breaker, Tundra has a highly mobile draft. They took full advantage of that. As soon as they gain momentum in the match, Tundra quickly asserts dominance across the map with their highly agile draft as their safelane Juggernaut soaks up the farm. Although Team Secret tried to keep up with the pace of Tundra, they failed. At 35 minutes, Tundra eventually closed up game 1.

Evil Geniuses Vs Tundra Esports

Amongst the three teams, Evil Geniuses were the favourites in the tiebreakers. Rightfully, the team came out on top in their series against Tundra and Team Secret. In the series against Tundra Esports, Tundra tried to play a fast-paced game with a Huskar mid backed by a safelane Terrorblade.

However, EG didn’t flinch and played a greedy lineup of Shadow Fiend mid and a safelane carry Morphling. Despite having a greedier line-up, EG dominated the laning stage. They snowballed their advantage and momentum onto Tundra as their midlane Huskar fells off the game. Eventually, Tundra Esports tapped out at 35 minutes.

Evil Geniuses Vs Team Secret

Team Secret needed to win their series against EG to keep the tiebreakers going. However, EG came prepared to go to the next stage of DreamLeague.

Although Team Secret dominated the early stages, EG were patient and methodical. With their midlane Timbersaw and safelane carry Faceless Void, EG forced crucial mistakes from Secret and secured objectives. At 43 minutes, Team Secret tapped out from the game.

The Next Step

Winning Group Stage One, EG is now in Group Stage Two, where only eight teams are left. The Group Stage Two will start on June 16. After Group Stage Two, only four teams will make it to playoffs.
