Entity stood their ground, D1 Hustlers Relegated

The DPC Summer Tour was cutthroat for the WEU region. Tundra Esports dominated the region and took their ticket to The Bali Major. However, some teams, including Team Liquid, struggled to keep up with the performance of teams in the region. Although OG was at risk of being relegated, the team pulled through, putting Entity and D1 Hustlers in the spot. However, unlike OG, the tiebreaker’s steaks were high, as the losing team would get relegated from Division I.

 

The Tiebreakers 

The Tiebreakers was a thrilling series. In game 1, Entity played a slow-paced game with their safelane carry Magnus. Despite the relentless pressure coming from D1 Hustlers, they didn’t flinch.

Although their midlane was getting ganked a lot, Entity managed to threaten D1 Hustlers with their brilliant plays from the offlane Doom, and D1 Hustlers fell off quickly as the game progressed. Their safelane carry Wraith King dealt became limited, as the safelane carry Magnus from Entity came online. At 43 minutes, after getting wiped in their base, D1 Hustler tapped out from game 1.

D1 Hustler came back with a vengeance in game 2. They played a fast-paced game with a midlane Ember Spirit and safelane Juggernaut. Despite their offlane Beastmaster getting countered during the laning stage, Davai Lama managed to play it brilliantly, dodging unnecessary trades and forcing responses from the supports of Entity. In the midgame, both teams poked each other to force a response.

However, as their Juggernaut came online, D1 Hustlers quickly steamrolled the momentum and started pressuring the objectives. After forcing multiple unsuccessful skirmishes to come back into the game, at 26 minutes, Entity tapped out from game 2.

Entity held nothing back in game 3. They played aggressively from the start. Securing first blood during the bounty rune skirmish, Entity continued the pressure in the laning stage. Snowballing the advantage into mid-game, Entity set themselves up for success, playing methodically. After many unsuccessful attempts from D1 Hustlers to come back into the game, Entity closed out game 3 at 41 minutes and took the series.

Consequences 

After the Spring Tour concluded, the two teams that got promoted at the Spring Tour will be returning to Division II. Although Entity came out on top in the tiebreakers, D1 Hustlers can avenge their defeat at The Internationals 2023 qualifiers, which is around the corner. As the tiebreakers concluded, Entity gets to keep their Divison I spot, while D1 Hustlers will join Team Secret in getting relegated to Divison II.
