The new Rocket League event is already underway and will only be available for a few days, until October 18th. There are a lot of special bonuses on offer for players who want to take full advantage and complete as many of the challenges as they can. While Rocket League is pretty well known for exciting events both in game and in the pro scene, this one comes fully equipped with a Very Rare Drop and huge XP rewards.

The Hoops Arena - the centrepiece of the new event

Fans may be expecting another street arena and they won’t be disappointed. It’s pretty common to be in this area, but that’s no bad thing. The new arena is located in the Sovereign Heights community park. There are some really exciting details included so keep your eye out for some of the signs.

The Hoops Arena will, of course, have the hoops game mode that was brought out in 2016. The usual goals where players score football style goals are replaced with basketball hoops for, you guessed it, basketball style dunks. It’s as simple and easy as that. The same rules apply as usual and in ranked matches, only teams of 2v2 are permitted.

More bonuses - XP rewards and dropped

This event is only running for a very limited time so it’s worth taking the opportunity to earn as many rewards as possible. In order to do so, fans need only complete the in-game challenges by playing the game mode itself. Depending on how many in game challenges players are able to compete, they could earn:

  • Animated double dribble topper
  • A game time player anthem
  • Very rare drops
  • Large XP drops.

The rather ambiguously titled Very Rare Drops include a number of exciting in-game skins including decals, goal explosions and wheels. They’re not the rarest type of drops, but they’re certainly more uncommon than other types of rewards.

Is it worth your time? - In a word: yes

Games are always releasing different battle passes and events to keep their players interested and perhaps they’re not always worth your time. Historically, events have been hit and miss across the esports scene. However, if the first Block Party event if anything to go by, fans are in for a real treat again. This is one of the most popular events in the game’s history. Regardless, this event is only running for a few days so time is of the essence.
