Not for everyone.

Alexis “Newzera” Humbert has been announced by Karmine Corp on the 19th of April to be leaving the Karmine Corp active roster. He will be replaced by their registered sixth man, Assistant Coach Ahmed “ZE1SH” El Sheikh. “ZE1SH” will compete with Karmine for the remainder of the split unless circumstances change.

Roster in Shambles

As a player, “ZE1SH” has prior experience in the French Tier 2 and 3 scene. This will be his official debut at the Tier 1 level, and his first match is scheduled to be against the behemoths of EMEA, Natus Vincere.

Moreover, it has also been announced that Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom will be relinquishing the In-Game Leader role to “ZE1SH”. In this twitter post, he states that he will be ‘delegating the role of lead [to ZE1SH].’ The reasoning behind the move was stated by “ScreaM” to ‘pass control over the lead to the coach and assistant’ so as to be able to ‘focus on [himself].’

Karmine Corp is currently struggling in the VCT EMEA Split 1, with their roster currently sitting with a 1-3 record going into Week 4, near the bottom. Multiple criticisms have surfaced for this roster, mostly concerning the seeming lack of team cohesion and coherency in gameplan that eludes this roster.

Karmine Corp entered this VCT EMEA split with an ambitious plan to create an all-French-speaking roster that would be able to compete with the best, led by highly-decorated star fragger “ScreaM”, who was revealed to be taking up the IGL role as well. The plan has since fallen to shambles and Karmine are struggling deeply to remain competitive in the league.

The departure of “Newzera” shocked many at the suddenness, but also was not a complete surprise, as the player had been struggling to perform, coupled with the abject failure of the roster to produce meaningful results.

Abandonment

Due to VCT regulations, Karmine Corp was not allowed to fire any of the players during the course of the split, however, the report from them has stated that “Newzera” requested to retire from the roster.

In his twitter post, “ScreaM” alluded to his deep shock over the abandonment from “Newzera” in the midst of a tournament. Karmine’s official statement focused on “Newzera’s” ‘wish to step down from the roster’, and their desire to ‘listen to their players and allow them to evolve in the best conditions.’ Moreover, they also stated that they sought to ‘respect his decision and [Karmine] are doing their best to support the players and the staff members to face this situation.’

Furthermore, “ScreaM” despairs in his tweet, requesting ‘all [the fans] support and strength to overcome the ordeal.’ He also highlighted the trials and tribulations of playing in a team as ‘such an intense moment’, but also forewarned that if ‘one link does not attach to the chain, all is lost…’

Karmine Corp is scheduled to play against NA’VI this week at 5pm GMT on the 21st of April.
