The Worlds winning 2022 DRX Coach Kin “SSONG” Sang-soo has joined forces with Dplus KIA for the upcoming LCK 2024 season. The move re-unites SSONG with Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon who won the Worlds 2022 together on DRX.

Coach SSONG has a long and storied career. He started as a player for Najin Black Sword from 2012 to 2014 and enjoyed moderate success before switching to coaching. As a player, SSONG played as a midlaner and then transitioned to a support role.

After transitioning to coaching, SSONG joined KOO Tigers and helped them secure two LCK titles. He later traveled to America to coach for Immortals in 2017 and got them a second place finish at the LCS Summer 2017.

He stayed in America until 2020. During his time in America, SSONG only made it to Worlds only once (with Immortals). He returned to LCK to coach DRX in 2020. SSONG enjoyed mediocre results in Faker’s kingdom until 2022.

At the LCK Summer 2022, DRX placed second and qualified for the Worlds 2022. At the Worlds we saw DRX make a triumphant run with Deft as the protagonist to lift the Summoner’s cup. DRX dropped the Worlds winning squad, SSONG returned to the LCS to coach for Flyquest. The bad results once again brought SSONG home.

Now the head coach of the LCK 2024 Dplus KIA squad, SSONG has some strong pieces on his hands. With internationally-proven talents, coach SSONG can definitely make a run for the Worlds title once again.
