Carries gone wild: LCK Week 1, Day 4 recap

Gen.G beat DRX 2-0 and BRION won 2-1 against Kwangdong Freecs on the second-to-last day of Week 1 of the 2023 League Champions Korea (LCK) Spring Split on Jan. 21 at LOL Park in Seoul, South Korea.

GEN's win over DRX was a quick and dominant series, while BRO went the distance with KDF before getting their win.

Gen.G vs. DRX

Game 1: GEN wins

In a 19-4 stomp that lasted 32:40, Gen.G won Game 1 against 2022 world champion DRX. While GEN's botlaner Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan and midlaner Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon were the main playmakers, support Yoo "Delight" Hwan-joong's 2/0/12 Karma was also a major facilitator for the squad. Game 2: GEN wins

Gen.G beat DRX faster and harder than before in Game 2, winning 24-8 in 29:41. DRX kept the game close until a fight at 20 minutes allowed GEN Peyz's Zeri to attain a triple kill; the rookie botlaner finished 10/0/9, and Delight's 0/0/21 Yuumi could often be found at the scene of the crime. Kwangdong Freecs vs. BRION

Game 1: BRO wins

BRION started off the second series of the night with a 16-2 win over the Kwangdong Freecs that lasted 38:36. KDF played support Jeong "Moham" Jae-hun instead of Yoon "Jun" Se-jun, who played both games on Jan. 19. BRO midlaner Kim "Karis" Hong-jo's 7/0/6 Syndra did the most damage, but botlaner Park "Hena" Jeung-hwan went 6/0/6 on Lucian while supported by Lee "Effort" Sang-ho's 0/0/16 Nami. Game 2: KDF wins

Kwangdong Freecs edged out a win over BRION in 35:01 by an 8-6 score in Game 2. KDF Moham's 0/0/7 Yuumi had the best scoreline for the winning team, but toplaner Lee "DuDu" Dong-ju's late game K'Sante knockup on BRO Hena's then-4/0/1 Lucian won the game for KDF. Game 3: BRO wins

BRO won their second match of 2023 with a 14-3 win against the Kwangdong Freecs in 38:09. BRO Hena's 3/1/4 Lucian, Effort's 0/0/11 Nami and Karis's 3/0/8 Azir stood out for BRO, but it was Eom "UmTi" Seong-hyeon's surprising Lillia pick that ran the game with a 6/1/5 KDA.
