Swiss rifler Rigon "rigoN" Gashi is set to leave BIG and become a free agent on January 1, concluding a six-month tenure with the German esports organization. The announcement marks the end of a challenging period for both the player and the team, as they struggled to harmonize their differing playstyles.

Known for his aggressive approach during his time with Bad News Eagles, rigoN faced difficulties adapting to BIG’s more structured and methodical system.

Team captain Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz highlighted this challenge early on in an interview to HLTV, saying:

"He was a really aggressive style of player, and we don't actually need that, but sometimes he can bring the spiciness."

Despite efforts from both sides to integrate rigoN’s dynamic playstyle, the fit never fully materialized. Jon "JDC" de Castro echoed this sentiment during the RMR in Shanghai, stating:

"rigoN is trying his best to implement into the system while we try our best to activate his craziness."

Mixed Results During rigoN's Tenure

While rigoN’s time with BIG had its struggles, it was not without highlights. The team managed to reach the top 16 at the Perfect World Shanghai Major, defeating teams like Passion UA, Virtus.pro, and Complexity. However, they fell short in the Elimination Stage against powerhouse teams HEROIC, G2, and paiN. Outside of the Major, BIG faced difficulties maintaining consistency.

They exited most major tournaments in group stages or play-ins but managed a runner-up finish at ESL Challenger Atlanta before losing to FlyQuest in the final.

Reflecting on his departure, rigoN shared an emotional farewell message on social media platform X:

"After an intense and unforgettable journey, it's time for me to say goodbye. This chapter has been filled with ups and downs that have shaped me not only as a player but also as a person."

He expressed gratitude toward his teammates and fans while looking ahead optimistically:

"My journey continues and it's the start of something greater. I will be back better, more sharp, and ready to show what I'm truly capable of."

What is in store for BIG now?

As BIG prepares for 2025 without rigoN, their roster remains as follows:

The team continues under the guidance of coach Alexander "kakafu" Szymanczyk.

With this lineup, BIG aims to address their recent struggles and reestablish themselves as a competitive force in Counter-Strike 2. rigoN’s departure signals not just the end of a chapter for BIG but also an opportunity for both parties to recalibrate.

As BIG looks to refine their system moving forward, rigoN will undoubtedly seek new opportunities where his aggressive playstyle can shine.

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
