G2 Esports fans can breathe easy - Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov is staying with his current organization, despite strong interest from Team Falcons. The young Russian sniper has reportedly decided to continue his journey with his current team. This news puts an end to recent transfer rumors and keeps G2's powerful only wondering how they are going to replace Niko for the upcoming season.

m0NESY's impressive numbers

Since joining G2 in January 2022, m0NESY has proven why he's one of CS2's brightest talents. At just 19 years old, his stats are turning heads:

  • Rating 2.0: 1.22
  • K/D Ratio: 1.31
  • Kills per Round: 0.78
  • Headshot Percentage: 38.8%
  • Maps Played: 501

G2 wants to keep (at least one) of their stars

G2 Esports has made it clear they have no intention of letting m0NESY go. The team's manager, PECA, didn't spare words:

"We don't want to sell Ilya for any money, we are not even considering these offers, and we have already told this to the teams that were interested in him".

This strong statement shows just how much G2 values m0NESY and their plans to build the team around him, specially now that they will heavily rely on the young gun to overcome Niko's absence.

Why m0NESY is staying

A few key reasons likely influenced m0NESY's decision to stay with G2:

  • Team chemistry: He works well with his teammates, and this is likely to continue true despite NiKo's departure.
  • Contract: Reports say m0NESY's contract with G2 lasts until the end of 2025, which gives both sides stability.
  • Winning tournaments: G2 is an organization that is always fighting for the top spots in tournaments, something Falcons is yet to do. For an ambitious professional such as the wonderkid, this makes a world of difference.

The future for G2 Esports, Team Falcons and CS2 as a whole

m0NESY's decision to remain with G2 Esports has far-reaching implications for the Counter-Strike 2 competitive scene. By retaining their young star, G2 has effectively secured their position as a top contender in the upcoming tournament circuit, including major events scheduled for 2025.

This added stability in their roster allows G2 to focus on refining their strategies and team synergy rather than scrambling to fill two crucial gaps - as they already have to replace Niko. The effects of this decision extend beyond G2, reshaping the transfer strategies of other organizations.

"Willing to sell your star-player?"

Team Falcons, who were eyeing m0NESY as a potential addition to their roster will now need to reassess their plans. This could lead to a shift in the transfer market dynamics, with organizations fearing being the next one receiving a call asking about their rising talents or established players.

As the 2025 CS2 season approaches, we will sure following G2 and m0NESY very closely. The community is anticipating who the team will bring to further leverage m0NESY's exceptional skills to fight for the biggest titles of the season. Will G2 be able to translate this roster's continuation into tournament success? That's what we will soon learn.

There is a cruel irony at the heart of Team Falcons' CS2 project. Hand someone from 2022 their current roster sheet — NiKo, m0NESY, TeSeS, Kyxsan, kyosuke, all under the tutelage of five-time Major-winning coach Zonic — and they would confidently declare this team the undisputed best in the world. And yet, here we are in March 2026, watching Falcons get knocked out of BLAST Open Spring in the quarterfinals by PARIVISION.
