The world number one just lost to a team almost nobody bet on. BetBoom knocked Team Vitality out of the upper bracket with a 2-1 victory in the Group A Upper Bracket Semifinal of IEM Atlanta 2026, and it wasn't even that close on the maps that counted.

Nobody Believed in BetBoom

Vitality came into Atlanta as the reigning Grand Slam holders, fresh off their fourth consecutive Tier 1 trophy in 2026. The script was already written before the first round was even played, and everyone knew how it was supposed to end.

BetBoom opened on Anubis and played it in a sharp and structured manner, completely unbothered by the moment. They controlled the map from start to finish and closed it out 13-10, putting the world number one on notice from round one.

Not Enough Today

Vitality found their footing on Overpass. The French core looked like themselves again, running through BetBoom 13-8 and leveling the series. With a decider on Nuke, most people in the building probably exhaled and waited for the favorites to close it out.

Nuke had other plans. BetBoom kept Vitality's star players quiet when it mattered and the Russians walked away with a clean 13-8 win on the decider. ZywOo, flameZ and ropz just weren't enough today.

The Road Just Got a Whole Lot Harder

BetBoom advances to the Group A Upper Bracket Final and is now in position to lock up a direct spot in the playoff semifinals. Vitality drops to the lower bracket, where a single bad showing can end everything.

For a team that has looked close to unbeatable for months, this is the kind of loss that forces a conversation. Atlanta is still very much winnable for them, but the path got steeper the moment that Nuke scoreline went up.

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
