100 Thieves finished with a bang, and Cloud9 locked first place with only a minor stumble against Counter Logic Gaming — here's what we learned from the eighth and final week of the 2023 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Spring Split.

The Recall: What we learned from LCS Week 8

100T went 5-0 in their three scheduled Super Week games and two tiebreakers. Between Weeks 7 and 8, 100T logged more wins (7) than they had in the first six weeks of the split (6). While the team sported the worst gold difference at 15 minutes of any team this week with -1,221, they led in kills (107) and kill-death ratio (107-53, or 2.02). The squad's 277 kills in 20 games (13.6 ratio) also rank first for the split, with Cloud9 and FlyQuest tying for the best kill-per-game ratio with 270 in 19 games (14.2 ratio).

100T bot laner Yiliang "Doublelift” Peng earned the Player of the Week award for his 46/11/43 KDA. The recently unretired bot laner led all Week 8 players in in kills per game (9.2) and kill participation (83.2%), while ranking second in kill share (43%) after C9 bot laner Kim "Berserker" Min-cheol's 43.4%. Doublelift's 104 kills in 20 games (5.2 ratio) rank first on the split, but FLY bot laner Lee "Prince" Chae-hwan ranks first in kills per game with 101 in 19 (5.3 ratio).

100T support Alan "Busio" Cwalina led all players this split in total assists with 196 -- 85 of which came from Week 8 alone -- and mid laner Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg's 16/7/67 score and 11.9 KDA ratio led all players in Week 8.

Not to be outdone, C9 finished atop the league with a tiebreaker victory against FLY, tying CLG for the second best record (3-1) in Week 8 after 100T. C9 outperformed early favorite FLY and ended first in several stats, including lowest average game time (31 minutes), least deaths (174), best kill-death ratio (270/174, or 1.55), gold difference at 15 minutes (919), and gold spent percentage (58.9%; 60.5% this week).

C9 Berserker's KDA of 87/18/99 and ratio of 10.3 led all players; the only other KDA over 7.5 was Evil Geniuses substitute mid laner Tommy "ry0ma" Le's one-game KDA of 5/1/6 and ratio of 11. C9 jungler Robert "Blaber" Huang led the league in percentage of jungle CS taken with a 54.5% figure.

Other notable stats

  • Neither C9 or FLY saw a singler Elder Dragon kill, for or against, in their 35 combined games this split.
  • Despite a disappointing 8-10 record and a failed playoff run, Team Liquid's 50.7% lane percentage ranked first among all players.
  • EG midlaner Joseph Joon "jojopyun" Pyun finished with 68 deaths in 18 games, or 3.8 deaths per game. That's 32.1% of team's deaths. Both numbers are the worst in the league.
  • The only three players to finish the split with 10 CS per minute or higher were FLY Prince (10.1), C9 Berserker (10) and 100 Doublelift (10).
  • The top three most played champions of the split were Sejuani (43 games), K'Sante (42) and Zeri (36).
  • Elise's 86% pick-ban rate was the highest of any champ.
