Oryx is a Defender in Rainbow Six Siege, introduced in the Operation Void Edge expansion. His real name is Saif Al Hadid. He comes from Jordan and was trained at the Fortress under Kaid, where he later became second-in-command.

Despite holding no official military rank, Oryx gained respect through strength and discipline. His journey is marked by escape from imprisonment, survival across multiple countries, and skill building in wrestling, Muay Thai, driving, and marksmanship.

Psychological Profile

Oryx is quiet and controlled. He avoids talking about his past, which included over fifteen years of confinement. Instead, he focuses on the present.

He shows no signs of emotional instability. He’s focused, physically unmatched, and extremely calm. Some Operators have noted that he shows control even in high-pressure situations. This control is a tool he uses tactically.

He enjoys poetry and has shared stories about traveling across Syria and Morocco. Despite the trauma in his history, Oryx does not live in anger. He is centered, confident, and difficult to read.

Loadout and Role

Oryx plays as a roaming Defender. His loadout allows him to cover ground fast and disrupt enemy movement.

Primary Weapons

  • T-5 SMG

  • SPAS-12 Shotgun

Secondary Weapons

  • Bailiff 410

  • USP40

Gadgets

  • Barbed Wire

  • Proximity Alarm

His setup gives him flexibility. Players can choose between close-quarters combat or a more aggressive flanking style.

Remah Dash Ability

Oryx’s main ability is the Remah Dash. It lets him dash quickly in short bursts. He can use it to knock down Attackers, break through unreinforced walls, and smash barricades.

The dash has three charges and each one recharges after eight seconds. Each dash lasts one second and covers up to five meters. He can chain movements to surprise enemies or open up unexpected angles.

Hitting soft walls causes Oryx to take 5 damage. If he’s low on health, dashing into walls can knock him out or kill him. He does not take damage from breaking through barricades or shields.

Dashing into an enemy knocks them back. If they hit a wall, they take minor damage and are briefly stunned.

The dash doesn’t affect teammates or their gadgets unless a wall they’re on is destroyed.

Hatch Climbing

Oryx is the only Operator who can climb through open ceiling hatches. This gives him a strong vertical rotation option.

He can hang from the ledge before committing to the climb. This lets him scout for enemies above. Hanging or climbing both make noise, so timing is important.

Climbing does not require a Remah Dash charge. It’s a separate skill that adds mobility to Oryx’s playstyle.

Synergies with Other Operators

Oryx works well with healing Operators. Doc’s Stim Pistol or Thunderbird’s Kóna Station can help him recover after breaking through walls.

He can also knock enemies into traps. Pushing opponents into Kapkan’s traps or Frost’s Welcome Mats creates quick kills.

Intel-based Operators like Valkyrie or Maestro can scout ahead. This helps Oryx decide where to dash or climb.

Clash can slow down enemies, making it easier for Oryx to close in and knock them down.

Counters and Weaknesses

Several gadgets can stop Oryx mid-dash. Zofia’s concussion grenades and Nomad’s Airjabs interrupt his movement. Gridlock’s Trax Stingers force him to slow down or take damage.

Claymores placed above hatches can kill Oryx, even if he’s just hanging on the ledge.

Lion’s EE-ONE-D and Jackal’s tracking can reveal his location, making roaming harder.

While dashing or climbing, Oryx can’t use weapons. This leaves him vulnerable. Well-timed melee attacks can stop him during his dash if aimed at the chest.

Physical Strength and Design

Oryx is the heaviest Operator in the game, weighing 287 pounds (130 kg). He shares the tallest height with Kaid at 6'5" (1.95m).

His icon is based on the oryx, a strong and fast desert animal. His design reflects this—built for raw power and controlled movement.

In early development, he was supposed to be Turkish, but his background was later changed to Jordanian.

Voice and Personality

Oryx speaks with calm authority. His voice lines reflect his self-control and discipline. He doesn’t show much emotion, but he commands respect.

One of his notable quotes: “People will ruin beautiful things.”

It reflects his view of the world—direct, unsentimental, and shaped by experience.

How to Use Oryx Effectively

Play him as a flanker. Use the Remah Dash to move quickly between rooms and surprise attackers.

Avoid overusing the dash through walls. Each breach costs health. Instead, use it to reposition or break through soft spots when it's safe.

Climb hatches when attackers won’t expect it. Use noise and timing to confuse them. Set traps or gadgets nearby to create distractions.

Bring barbed wire to control hatch areas or tight corridors. Place proximity alarms where attackers may breach to buy time for a dash.

Stay aware of your health. A few bad dashes can put you in danger. Pairing with support teammates is key.

Final Thoughts

Oryx is one of the most unique Defenders in Rainbow Six Siege. His power lies in mobility and physical impact, not technology.

He’s a strong choice for players who enjoy aggressive defense, fast decision-making, and creative movement. With smart positioning and support, Oryx can shift the pace of any match.
