Day 2 of the Western European DPC Summer Tour contained one of the most anticipated matches of the Tour - the reigning DPC titans, Team Liquid, versus the former titans looking for redemption, Team Secret. Before the series against Team Secret, Team Liquid dropped their debut Summer Tour series against Entity, where they had to play with a standin’. With Liquid showing their cracks and Secret looking for redemption, with their near-perfect record at Division II, it was expected to be close series. However, Team Liquid humbled Team Secret, taking a clean 2-0 victory.

Game 1

Team Secret planned to play a fast-paced game drafting Ember Spirit mid and offlane Beastmaster. Team Liquid, however, had other plans - picking a Lone Druid mid, Team Liquid played a four-protect one draft, backing their midlane with an offlane Magnus, safelane hard carry Riki, and a position 4 Clinkz.

During the laning stage, Team Liquid prioritise its midlane bringing in backup whenever it feels threatened. Not playing the game Team Secret had planned, Team Liquid slowly started to create their momentum at the end of the laning stage. The two invisible heroes of Team Liquid secured pickoffs, enabling the team’s bear to pressure objectives. Eventually, at 35 minutes, Secret tapped out from game 1.

Game 2

Team Secret heavily pressured Liquid’s offlane Bloodseeker in game 2. Despite receiving tremendous pressure, Team Liquid played calmly and waited for their Medusa’s item timing.

A chaotic Roshan fight at 22 minutes gave Liquid a small window to hold onto the game even though they lost that particular team fight. Team Liquid slowly pokes Team Secret looking for an opening. At 29 minutes, Team Liquid found the fight they were looking for, and as their Medusa hit her item timing, Team Liquid looked for a fight.

Winning the Roshan fight at 33 minutes blew the game wide open for Team Liquid as they came out on top. With their Medusa soaking everything and Void Spirit picking off the backlines, Team Secret started to fall apart as Liquid siege the objectives. At 52 minutes, Team Liquid closed out game 2, taking the series as well.  Team Liquid is in fifth place, with one win and one loss,  in Western Europe DPC. Their upcoming match is against D2 Hustler, another promoted team from Division II.
