T1 dismantle Gen.G to reach Worlds 2024 Grand Finals

T1 have secured their spot in the Grand Finals of Worlds 2024 after dismantling their LCK rivals of Gen.G in the tournament's Semifinals. 

Meanwhile, Gen.G will be left to scratch their heads on their flight home as one of the most star-studded rosters in the game falls short at Worlds one more time.

Now, the only thing standing between T1 and a second consecutive Worlds trophy is the LPL powerhouse of Bilibili Gaming (BLG). Dubbed 'the LPL killers', T1 will look to live up to their name as BLG try and put an end to the T1's torment over their region.

T1 conquer their demons

T1 came into their semifinal matchup against Gen.G with the pressure of facing a team they had not been able to conquer a single time in a series in 2024. In fact, before this semifinal, Gen.G held an 11-3 record in their head-to-head over T1 in 2024.

When it comes to Worlds, however, the past ceases to matter for T1. Despite the name of the team standing in front of them, T1 came into the match high on confidence after their dominant display over Top Esports in the Quarterfinals, and it immediately showed.

Despite the Game 2 hiccup, during which the team simply never managed to get the engine going, T1 completely overpowered their LCK rivals in the Semifinals of Worlds 2024. In true LCK style, the teams' approach to the match was entirely methodical for large portions of the series, with Faker and T1's Worlds experience repeatedly shining through.

It was only during the final game of the series, when the heat was turned up to the max, that T1 and Gen.G allowed for glimpses of their human nature to show, as the match devolved into a more chaotic affair with every passing minute.

With everything on the line, the two LCK rivals set a frantic pace to the game before T1 managed to defeat Gen.G in a series for the first time all year. And what a time to do it.

T1 dominate the World Stage

The most historic organization in League of Legends has found a way to do it again. Not only did T1 come into Worlds 2024 as the LCK's fourth, the team also stood only a single game away from failing to qualify for the tournament altogether. And yet, despite their struggles to find their form on the buildup to the tournament, T1 proves yet again that the Worlds Stage was built for them.

Now, having performed a clinical dismantling of the pre-tournament favorites of Gen.G in the Semifinals of Worlds 2024, T1 will make an incredible third consecutive appearance in the Grand Finals of Worlds.

With their remarkable run at Worlds 2024, T1 reaffirms the fact that they are the past, present and future of competitive League of Legends.

For T1, there is only the Worlds trophy.

Faker and Worlds: A timeless partnership

Reductive as it may sound, the truth is that if T1 are a timeless team, that is because Faker has deemed it so. When the chips are down, the greatest League of Legends player of all time always finds a way to make every move count.

Having conquered his team's biggest recent nemesis in Gen.G, Faker will let his footsteps be heard across the halls of a Worlds Finals arena for a mind-blowing 7th time.

The first time Faker won Worlds was all the way back in 2013. Now, 11 years later, the first Hall of Legends inductee seeks to win yet another battle against Father Time - and the LPL - as he looks to topple BLG, the final obstacle between himself and a 5th Worlds title.
