Day two of the RLCS Boston Major essentially made Rocket League history. For the first time in a very long time, the North American region will have no representatives in the Grand Finals. Not only that, but they haven’t made a showing in the semi finals either. The final day will be EU and MENA fighting it out for the ultimate victory and those all important RLCS points.

Upper Bracket - EU Dominance

There’s already no question that the EU will have at least one team in the Grand Finals of the RLCS Boston Major. Yesterday’s best of 7 games both ended in the same result. A 4 - 1 victory for both previous world champions Team BDS and previous Major champions Karmine Corps.

The 1 win against BDS was hard fought for Team Vitality. With almost a full minute of overtime, they finally managed to clinch the winning goal. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback. After destroying NA’s last hope in the shape of Gen.G Mobil1 Racing, Vitality will go head to head with Rule One in the lower bracket semi finals for a chance at the Grand Finals.

Lower Bracket - All the Action

Unusually, the lower bracket has had some much spicier action than the upper. Fans of Rocket League Majors gone by will be surprised to hear that NA teams have fallen at every hurdle. The RLCS Boston Major may in fact mark the dawning of a new era for Rocket League. FURIA fell to Ninjas in Pyjamas, OpTic fell to Liquid and Complexity fell to Rule One.

This is the first time in Rocket League history that no NA teams will be on a finals Sunday, whether in a semi finals or grand finals. As this is the last Major of this year, it’ll be some time before NA can make their comeback at a Major.

Rule One - MENA’s Last Hope at RLCS Boston Major

The Middle Eastern and North African region only sent one team to the Rocket League Boston Major and they’ve certainly made their presence known. It hasn’t been an easy ride - Rule One fell to the lower bracket in the UB quarterfinals on day 1 of the tournament. From there, it’s been a case knocking down opponent after opponent.

Their toughest fight was certainly against EU’s Moist Esports. In the LB quarter finals, Rule One were forced to play out 6 of the 7 potential games in order to claim victory. With only 1 goal difference in every game apart from game 5 in Deadeye Canyon, it was a truly nail biting series.

Day 3 of the RLCS Boston Major is due to take place on Sunday 9th July. The final remaining teams are:

  • Karmine Corps
  • Team BDS
  • Team Vitality
  • Rule One.

Perhaps now is the time for MENA to make their presence known. The team, which only began competing together in 2022, are playing their first ever Major and their first S-tier tournament. It’s one thing to dominate one region, it’s another entirely to compete on the international stage.
