The Lima Major Playoffs got off to a bumpy start. The stream lasted more than 15 hours due to production issues and delays. During the first 6 hours, there was only a single series played. It was Team Aster vs Gaimin Gladiators. After game 1, Team Aster’s booth started to fall apart, resulting in a lengthy pause before game 2.  Fans even mockingly compared the tournament to The Shanghai Major, suggesting they would rather watch The Shanghai Major instead. The Shanghai Major went down in Dota 2 history as the worst Major of all time due to its production quality and the dramas surrounding it.

Recap

The brilliant action displayed by the teams splendidly makes up for the lack of quality in the production. Regardless of the poor production, fans were excited to see their favourite teams.

Shopify Rebellion Vs Team Spirit

The series between Shopify Rebellion and Team Spirit was intense, as the loser of the series will have to face PSG.LGD in the lower brackets. Team Spirit with a Drow Ranger draft stomped Shopify Rebellion’s Sven draft in game 1. Team Spirit closed out game one at 30 minutes with a score of 6-19.

At game 2, Shopify Rebellion returned the stomp with Arteezy’s signature Shadow Fiend. Shopify Rebellion took game 2 at 42 minutes with a net worth lead of 35K gold. Both teams went all out in game 3. However, Shopify Rebellion’s hard carry Arteezy came through when his team needed him the most, clutching the Aegis Of Immortal,  securing the crucial advantage for his team.  Shopify Rebellion closed out game 3 at 40 minutes.

Team Liquid Vs Talon Esports

Many people consider Team Liquid one of the favourites to win the Lima Major. Displaying a strong showing and topping Group B in the group stages, Team Liquid came into the playoffs. Their first series was against Talon Esports. In game 1, Team Liquid stomped Talon Esports with a safelane Sniper draft. Talon drafted Lina as their safelane hard carry. Zai and miCKe stepped up their game to let Team Liquid close out game 1 in 31 minutes with a score of 31-12.

In game 2, Talon decided to step up their action. They won the laning stage. However, Talon’s Faceless Void and Death Prophet draft come back to haunt them. Team Liquid drafted a safelane, Drow Ranger.  Due to Talon’s team composition consisting of several high cool-down spells, Team Liquid forced team fights when Talon’s team fight abilities went on cooldown.  Eventually, Team Liquid closed out game 2; at 49 minutes with a score of 42 to 34.

Moving forward with their win, Team Liquid will face Shopify Rebellion in their stage of the upper bracket. The winner of the series will advance to the upper-bracket finals, where they will be facing the winner of the Entity versus Gaimin Gladiators series.
