After a stellar performance at The International 12 (TI12), Nouns Esports announced that they are disbanding their entire Dota 2 squad. It's a surprising result as the team had the best performance among all North American squads at TI.

The organization also stated that they still have plans for Dota 2 in 2024, though no elaboration was given.

At TI12, Shopify Rebellion was expected to bring glory to North America, as the team was comprised of the best players from NA. Reality is often disappointing though, especially for fans of Shopify.

The team struggled through the group stage, with a 2-6 score, and barely scraped by into the playoffs. Their loss to Team Spirit meant the team would start in the lower bracket of the tournament.

Things got worse for North American fans as two teams from the region faced off in an elimination match. TSM ended up eliminating Shopify in an interesting plot twist. The Dota 2 writers were working overtime on this one ladies and gentlemen.

After eliminating Shopify, all hopes were on TSM to go far and in another cruel twist of fate, it was another elimination match between two North American squads, this time between Nouns and TSM.

Nouns took the series, with two explosive and long games. While this sent another NA team home, it also ensured the region would have one team in the top eight, the best result since 2019.

After securing top eight, Nouns Esports had to face eventual second-place finishers, Gaimin Gladiators. Nouns' success secured them over USD $80,000 at TI.

  • Nicolas "Gunnar" Lopez
  • David "Moo" Hull
  • Rodrigo "Lelis" Santos
  • Luke "Yamsun" Wang

The Nouns Disband is not the end of the organization's involvement in Dota 2, as they announced that they still have plans for next year.

" It's an exciting time to be a Dota fan, keep an eye out for our 2024 plans, coming soon! ⌐◨-◨"

Time will tell what those plans are, it will also be exciting to see where the former players of Nouns go, as they are likely to be hot commodities for any team in the region.
