Joshua Mills Named the New Creative Director Rainbow Six Siege

There has been a shift in leadership behind the scenes at Ubisoft, as Joshua Mills takes the helm as Creative Director for Rainbow Six Siege, replacing Alexander Karpazis who served in the role for the past four years. The leadership transition comes at a pivotal moment, just ahead of the Six Invitational 2026 and the game's highly anticipated Year 11 content.

Karpazis' Eight-Year Legacy

Alexander Karpazis announced his departure in an emotional statement to the Siege community, reflecting on eight remarkable years with the franchise. Before becoming Creative Director, he served as Art Director and contributed to Siege's evolution through multiple seasons and updates. His 14-year tenure at Ubisoft also included work on critically acclaimed titles like Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Watch Dogs, and Watch Dogs 2.

“I am proud to have been a part of the Siege team for the last eight years and a Siege player for even longer. I cannot put into words the number of ways this game has impacted my life."

He also praised the team's achievements and the community's unwavering support, noting that March's upcoming season represents "one of the most special seasons we have ever worked on." Rather than leaving Ubisoft entirely, Karpazis will transition to new challenges within the company, taking his Siege experience to fresh projects.

Mills Steps Into Leadership

Joshua Mills is a familiar name in the Siege ecosystem, and brings extensive experience to his new role. Having joined Ubisoft in 2015, Mills has spent over four years working directly on Rainbow Six Siege while contributing to other major Ubisoft franchises including Watch Dogs 2 and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. His decade-long connection to Siege as both developer and player positions him uniquely to guide the game's future.

"Siege has been part of my life for the past decade, but my love for all things Rainbow begins well before that."

He expressed gratitude to Karpazis for his mentorship and emphasized his commitment to serving both the development team and the passionate player community.

A Smooth Transition

The leadership change has been carefully orchestrated over the past year, with Karpazis and Mills working closely to ensure continuity. Karpazis praised Mills as "not only a great friend, but a strong leader and a champion of Siege values," expressing confidence that his successor will elevate the game to greater heights.

The timing of this announcement, just before the Six Invitational, is quite transparent from Ubisoft. But some could also take it as a sign of instability, as it sits right on the cusp of Year 11. Mills will officially assume his responsibilities following the tournament, inheriting a game that recently celebrated its historic 10th anniversary and continues to maintain a dedicated global player base.

As Rainbow Six Siege enters its 11th year, the community can expect fresh perspectives while maintaining the core values that have sustained the game's success for over a decade.
