FURIA dismantled FaZe Clan 13-7 in their opening best-of-one match at IEM Rio 2024, securing a spot in the Upper Bracket Semifinals.

Both teams closely contested the first half, trading rounds until they were tied at 6-6. However, FURIA dominated the second half, completely shutting down FaZe Clan. They denied them space and map control, dismantling any attempt by FaZe to regain momentum.

Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato led the charge on the Terrorist side, racking up 14 kills with an impressive 90% KAST and 112 ADR. Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes delivered key performances on the CT side, locking down Middle and countering every strategy that Finn "karrigan" Andersen’s squad attempted.

We previously highlighted FURIA’s potential if all their elements clicked together, and they quickly realized this in their first match of the event. Meanwhile, FaZe Clan dropped to the lower bracket, where they will face paiN Gaming, who suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of MOUZ.

This match underscores two important takeaways: FaZe’s continued struggles and FURIA’s ability to perform on home soil, potentially advancing to the playoffs. FURIA will now face MOUZ in their second game of the day.

Second Round of Matches

The winner's match between FURIA and MOUZ, as well as the elimination match, will take place simultaneously at 19:00 WAST. Opposite to the first match, all the upcoming series are BO3s, so be sure to grab some popcorn and enjoy the thrill as the pressure will be intense for the teams, with fans anxiously hanging on to every moment.

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
