Faker Scores Second Official Pentakill 12 Years into his Career
Twelve years into his incredibly illustrious career, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok just scored his second pentakill in an official match. After a monstruous performance on Ahri, the feat propelled T1 to a match win over DRX at the LCK 2025 Season, where the team now sits in third place with a 7-4 record.
The Pentakill: A Decade in the Making
It seems mad to think that after such a long career marked by success, Faker has just now landed only the second pentakill of his career. To put matters into perspective, the T1 mid laner has more than twice as many World Championships than he does pentakills.
There's something poetic, though, about the fact that the second pentakill of Faker's career came almost exactly 10 years after the first one. The greatest League of Legends player of all time achieved the feat for the first time on LeBlanc in January of 2015, during a match at the LCK Spring 2015 against NaJin e-mFire.
At the time, Faker was well known for his antics on LeBlanc, a champion that often granted T1 clutch wins back in the day. This time? Well, who else could it be but Ahri, the very champion for which Riot Games created the most expensive skin in the game in honor of Faker and his legacy.
Celebrating Faker's Birthday in Style
As if that was not enough, Faker's second pentakill also happened to arrive just one day after the star player's birthday. A commemorative medal, a pentakill, and a win? What better way to celebrate.
Though T1's journey at the LCK 2025 Season started off a little bumpy, the reigning World Champs are picking up steam at just the right time as the battle to secure a spot at MSI 2025 grows fiercer. Now, Faker's pentakill serves as an illustration of T1's rising form while they continue on the path back the top of the LCK once more.
