EDward Gaming has finalized their roster for the 2024 LPL season. After a semi-turbulent start to the off-season, in which their star AD Carry player - legend Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao - had to call it quits for yet another time due to fatigue and injuries, their long time Support star of 9 years leaves, and a call for rebuild can be heard, EDG have finally re-emerged.

Earlier coverages from Strafe Esport covered the reflection and departure of Uzi, the decision for long-time EDG franchise player Tian “Meiko” Ye to leave the roster, as well as Chu “FoFo” Chun-Lan’s move after a year to a newly reformed Team WE. Now, we present the full EDG roster for 2024.

EDward Gaming 2024 LPL Starting Lineup:

Return of Leave

The controversial return of Leave is a massive talking point for this 2024 roster. Having left the team a week into the LPL Summer Split amidst accusations of soliciting sex workers, he was also found to have created multiple burner accounts which were used to defend himself as well as shift blame to his teammates.

The rapid downfall of the promising young star led to LPL legend Uzi stepping in to replace for the remainder of the season. Leave’s return now draws many questions, including what of his former scandal and its resolution?

Moreover, he had left amidst a sea of criticism for his behavior and response, leading to questions of emotional maturity and more importantly, whether he is now capable of functioning within a team once more.

Built around the Jungler

A common move for teams starting over is to pick a focal point around which the team can be rebuilt. This often means either a proactive/experienced player who would function well as both an inserted piece to facilitate, as well as one that can be facilitated by a wide-range of players

In the case of EDG, long-time Jungler JieJie is their choice to remain once again. Having competed with this roster since 2019, he was promoted from their academy roster, and has since shown excellence in his performance.

Ale and Fisher also remain from the 2023 roster. Fisher previously shared the stage with FoFo. However, with the latter’s departure to Team WE, it appears as if Fisher has just been promoted to full time Mid Laner for the team. The opposite has gone for Ale, who has now seen his services supplemented with the addition of Solokill, who himself has been on a revolving door between EDG and their academy team.

Digging into Academy

With this set of moves, EDG complete their roster. The majority of their players, with the exception of Ale, all have come from EDG’s Academy roster. Much like other rosters in the other regions, the search for new talent has led many to promote from within. Time will tell if this roster can compete with the best of the LPL.
