Mozzie stands out as a defender who can change the flow of a match with a single gadget. His ability to steal attacker drones gives his team rare intel and forces attackers to rethink their approach. This article explains his story, his personality, how his device works, and how players can use him well.

Who is Mozzie?

Max Goose, known as Mozzie, joined Rainbow as part of Operation Burnt Horizon. He comes from Australia and built his reputation through quick thinking and strong off-road skills. Before joining Rainbow, he served in the Australian Defence Force Academy and later moved into reconnaissance roles using dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles.

He advanced further when he was selected for the Special Air Service Regiment. His off-road training and fast decision-making made him an asset. He also earned the National Emergency Medal for saving firefighters during the Esperance bushfires.

Mozzie’s Personality

Mozzie is a calculated daredevil. He processes information quickly and reacts before others finish planning. He enjoys speed, risk, and anything involving engines. He also leans into humor and uses it to ease tension, or at times to mask frustration.

Dr. Harishva Pandey’s report describes him as someone who grew up trying to stand out. His humor and profanity help shape his presence. He also becomes angry when others bring up his height, which is a known sore point among teammates. Despite this, he remains a lively showman who enjoys pushing limits.

Mozzie’s Role in Rainbow Six Siege

He is a defender who traps and steals attacker drones. His goal is to take control of enemy intel and use it against them. Few operators can deny drones as effectively as he can. When he succeeds, attackers lose valuable information and must adapt fast.

Loadout Overview

Mozzie uses either the Commando 9 assault rifle or the P10 Roni submachine gun. Both offer steady control and strong damage for close and mid-range fights. His secondary weapon is the SDP 9mm handgun. He also carries either two Barbed Wire or a Nitro Cell.

These options give him a balanced toolkit. He can play anchor, roam, or flex between both roles.

How the Pest Launcher Works

Core Function

His main tool is the Pest Launcher. He gets three Pests, which are small bots that latch onto attacker drones and hack them. Once hacked, the drone becomes Mozzie’s to use. Attackers cannot reclaim it.

A Pest works in two ways:

  • He can fire it directly at a drone.

  • He can fire it onto a surface and wait for a drone to come within a three-meter radius.

Hacking Details

A Pest needs line of sight. If it connects, the drone becomes jammed and is taken over after roughly three seconds. Attackers see a warning icon if they come too close to the device.

Once the drone is hacked, the Pest dissolves and cannot be reused. A hacked drone keeps all its original abilities. This includes Twitch’s taser and Brava’s gadget-manipulation system, giving Mozzie strong offensive options.

Limits and Risks

A hacked drone can be destroyed by attackers. It also gets disabled by Thatcher’s EMP grenades. IQ can detect both Pests and hacked drones. Twitch’s laser can destroy them as long as her drone is not in hacking range. Mozzie also loses control of a drone if he drives it outside for too long.

How to Use Mozzie Well

Early Round Control

Mozzie can place Pests near drone holes or common entry routes. Attackers often scout the map early, so these traps can secure quick captures. Once he steals a drone, he can drive it to safe spots and save it for later.

Mid and Late Round Play

A captured drone can watch important angles, identify planting attempts, or mark enemies for teammates. Mozzie can also use Twitch’s Shock Drone to destroy attacker utility from a distance. With a Brava drone, he can flip attacker gadgets or force them into bad positions.

He can also hold a drone inside the site the same way Valkyrie uses cameras. This helps create opportunities for Nitro Cell plays or coordinated pushes.

Synergy With Other Operators

Mute works well with Mozzie. Mute’s jammers freeze attacker drones in place. When a drone is stuck and unable to move, Mozzie can capture it with ease. This combination can leave attackers nearly blind.

Counters to Mozzie

Mozzie struggles against operators who can disable or destroy his gadgets from a distance. IQ can spot his Pests. Thatcher can shut them down. Twitch, Zero, and Kali can destroy both his Pests and any drone he has taken. Brava can also hack Pests or captured drones to turn them back on Mozzie.

These risks push Mozzie players to place Pests carefully and avoid predictable spots.

Device Evaluation From Dokkaebi

Specialist Grace “Dokkaebi” Nam reviewed Mozzie’s Pest Launcher. She describes it as a device that quickly takes control of enemy drones with no risk of a counter hack. She also notes that its single-use design keeps it simple and effective. The only realistic solution for attackers is to destroy their own drones before Mozzie can use them.

Her comments show both respect and frustration, as she admits the device is clever while joking that she refuses to improve it.

Trivia About Mozzie

Mozzie’s name is Australian slang for “mosquito.” His character design references both Mad Max and the actor Francis Begbie. He is the shortest male operator in the game at 5'4". Some teammates tease him about his height, and Vigil has shown open dislike toward him.

He also appears as a costume in Ghost Recon Breakpoint and as a playable operator in the Assault on Hereford event.

Final Thoughts

Mozzie continues to be one of the most disruptive defenders in Rainbow Six Siege. His ability to steal and repurpose attacker drones gives his team powerful intel. His personality and backstory also add depth to his role. Players who learn how to place Pests well and manage stolen drones gain a strong advantage. Mozzie rewards timing, awareness, and a bit of clever mischief, much like the operator himself.
