The second major of Call of Duty League 2023 took us to Boston. Hosted by the Boston Breach at the MGM Music, CDL Major II 2023 featured the twelve CDL teams taking on each other. Based on their qualifier's standings, the teams were seeded in a double-elimination bracket. The playoff weekend started on 2nd February. The two teams making the event's grand finals were Atlanta Faze and LA thieves.

Atlanta Faze's Road to the CDL Major II Grand Finals:

Atlanta Faze started their CDL Major II journey taking on the Hosts of CDL Major II, Boston Breach. In a Bo5 series against the Breach, Faze started by losing Hardpoint 199-250. They answered back with an S&D win on Embassy. The breach took the A/B domination 3-2 to reach match point. In the second Hardpoint, Simp and Cellium popped off for Faze to force a final game in the series. Atlanta Faze took the final game in the series to reach the winners round 2.

In the Winners Round 2, Faze faced Toronto Ultra, who seemed poised to take the second major. Faze dominated Hardpoint, winning the game 250-153. They continued the domination on S&D, winning the game 6-1, and followed it up with a 3-0 win on A/B control to win the series 3-0.

Faze was one game short of the finals spot. In the Winners' Finals, they faced Minnesota ROKKR. Minnesota ROKKR took Hardpoint to go 1-0 up in the series. Faze answered back with the S&D to tie up the series. ROKKRs won the A/B control reaching the map point. Faze equalized with a dominating Hardpoint victory on Embassy. In the final S&D game, Faze, and ROKKR went toe-to-toe with Faze. In the end, Faze prevailed to win the series 3-2, securing the Grand finals and top 2 in Major 2.

LA thieves journey to the Major II Grand finals:

LA thieves started shakily. They lost to Optic 2-3 in the tournament's first round, falling to the Elimination Round. In Elimination Round 1, Thieves faced Mutineers. Thieves won Hardpoint with a decent lead and followed it up with a 6-4 S&D victory. Thieves dominated A/B control, winning the final map 3-0 to win the series 3-0.

Facing the New York Subliners, the second seed in Major, Thieves edged them out 250-246 to win Hardpoint. They followed the Hardpoint victory with a 6-4 S&D victory and again won A/B control 3-0 to eliminate Subliners from the competition. Next in the path of Thieves and the Grand finals was the Number 3 seeded Ultra. Thieves dominated Ultra in all three games to win the series 3-0 to face off Optic Texas in an elimination game.

Thieves lost the first game on Hardpoint 203-250. But the Thieves followed it with a narrow victory on S&D. They edged on Optic 3-2 on A/B control to reach map point. In the second Hardpoint face-off, Thieves took down Optic Texas 250-243, winning the series 3-1 and completing their revenge. With the win, the Thieves defeated the top three seeds in the Major. The final hurdle between the Thieves and the Grand finals was the Minnesota ROKKR.

Thieves started the series with a dominant 250-168 victory on Hardpoint. They edged out ROKKR on S&D, winning the second game 6-4 and reaching map point before ROKKR got one game. In the A/B Control, LA Thieves took down the Rokkr 3-1 to win the series 3-0. With the series win, they completed the lower bracket run, defeating the top three seeds at the major.

A CDL Championship 2022 Rematch:

The Atlanta Faze and the LA thieves will face off in the finals for a cash prize of $200k and 65 CDL points. This will be a rematch of the CDL Championship 2022.
