BLAST announces Rocket League Major in Birmingham, UK in 2025

In an exciting turn of events, BLAST has announced the return of Rocket League to the United Kingdom. Solihull, Birmingham will host the upcoming the first major RLCS event of 2025. This comes just months after the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) landed in the Copper Box Arena in London for the RLCS Major 2 back in June.

World’s Best Gather for First Event of the Season

16 of the best teams in the world will gather on the 29th and 30th of March to compete for the first trophy of the RLCS 2025 season - the RLCS Major 1 Birmingham. Tickets will go on sale via Live Nation from next week onwards. Here is a link to register for presale ticket access.

British Esports Cup

A few weeks before the BLAST event takes place, the British Esports Federation has arranged for an open tournament. Inviting all UK residents aged 13+ to take part in a separate tournament with a separate prize pool of £5,000 - it is dubbed the ‘British Esports Cup’.

Football has a long and rich culture in the UK, and while Rocket League is a slight departure from it, the roots of FIFA and other console-accessible games such as Rocket League make it an appealing game for the UK masses.

“British Esports is proud to support the UK esports scene with our own Rocket League tournament running alongside the Major, providing a platform for aspiring players across the UK to showcase their talent. This collaboration underlines the strength of the UK’s esports ecosystem and British Esports’ ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for grassroots players to engage with professional esports athletes.”

Furthermore, a business esports summit - WM Esports Unwrapped - is also planned for that event weekend. According to the Solihull council, it will be a chance for “key business and industry leaders to network and identify future growth opportunities.”

“Putting the Borough on the World Stage”

The expectations for the event is to attract thousands of fans from across the world (in-person), and millions more via the global broadcast. With a population of only around 220,000, the expected economic boon to the hospitality and visitor economy from the visitation of a tournament of this scale would certainly be “unrivaled.”

Hosting the RLCS Major 1 is a landmark moment for UK esports, and we’re thrilled to see another world-class event hosted in Great Britain.”
