Into the Playoffs: Blast R6 Copenhagen Major Round 1 Recap

Round 1 of the Blast R6 Copenhagen Major ended on 30th of April 2023. All of the opening matches were BO1, and 8 teams have been demoted to the Lower Round, while the other 8 have made some breathing room for themselves.

Game 1: SZ vs w7m

W7m had an easy victory against SZ, as they took the win on Oregon 1-7. SZ only managed to win one round on their attack side, as they then sat on the sidelines, as w7m took the rest of the rounds.

Game 2: Dplus vs Soniqs

Dplus had a terrible time against Soniqs, as the North Americans (with the addition of CTZN) took the win 7-2 on Oregon. Dplus could only muster 2 rounds on their attack side, as Soniqs handled the rest.

Game 3: Liquid vs REVEN

Team Liquid absolutely dominated REVENas they won the map Chalet 7-0. REVEN were left completely helpless, as they did not have any answers for whatever Liquid was throwing at them.

Game 4: DarkZero vs Team Falcons

DarkZero took the win from Falcons 7-4 on Theme Park. Both teams had a fierce back and forth in the first few rounds, before DarkZero managed to win 4 rounds in a row to win the game.

Game 5: Faze Clan vs MNM

Faze Clan managed to steal a victory of under MNM’s noses, as they won on Border 7-5. MNM had a good start, winning 4 out of their 6 defensive rounds. But managed to turn it around and win the map.

Game 6: M80 vs Wolves

Probably the most interesting matchup in the round, Wolves managed to win on Villa 8-7.Wolves got to map point first at 6-3, but M80 managed to push the game into overtime. However, Wolves did not lose composure, as they took the victory in Round 15.

Game 7: G2 vs SSG

SSG took the win against G2 in quite a commendable fashion, as they took the in 7-3. G2 were left scrambling for answers on their attack side, only being able to win 2 rounds. Their attack side was slightly worse as they mustered one round, before SSG won out on Bank on Round 10.

Game 8: VirtusPro vs Ninjas in Pyjamas

VirtusPro had quite a dominant game as they won on Clubhouse 7-4. NIP managed to win the first round, but then VirtusPro won 6 rounds in a row. NIP managed to pull back 3 more rounds, but VirtusPro decided to end it all, winning round 11, and consequently the map.

Round 2:

Faze, SSG, VP, Wolves, Liquid, w7m, DZ and Soniqs will play in the Round 2 High Matches. While SZ, REVEN, G2, MNM, Dplus, Falcons, M80, NIP are one step closer to elimination as they will play in the Round 2 Low Matches.
