100 vs. GG: LCS Playoffs Round 1 recap

Golden Guardians won 3-2 against 100 Thieves on March 25, the third match day of Round 1 of the 2023 League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Spring Playoffs at Riot Games Arena in Santa Monica, Calif., United States.

The loss was the first time since Spring 2016 that 100T bot laner Yiliang "Doublelift” Peng was eliminated from an LCS playoffs.

100 Thieves vs. Golden Guardians

Game 1: 100 wins

100 Thieves won Game 1 against Golden Guardians with an 18-7 win in 33:18. Despite GG possessing a 7-6 gold advantage at 25 minutes, 100T won a teamfight at Baron Nashor and notched all 12 kills for the rest of the game. 100T Doublelift finished 9/1/8 on Jinx and led in kills; jungler Can "Closer" Çelik went 6/2/9 on Wukong; mid laner Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg's signature Zilean found a 2/1/13 performance; and support Alan "Busio" Cwalina added a 1/1/17 score on Thresh. Game 2: GG wins

Golden Guardians tied up their series against 100 Thieves with a 29:24 win in which they led 17-6 in kills. GG top laner Eric "Licorice" Ritchie went 4/1/4 on Gwen; jungler Kim "River" Dong-woo found a 5/3/8 performance on Wukong; and Stixxay and support Choi "huhi" Jae-hyun went 5/0/10 on Lucian and 2/1/15 on Nami. Game 3: 100 wins

100 Thieves won Game 3 against Golden Guardians in 26:41 by a 20-5 score to take a 2-1 lead in the series. 100T Closer finished 4/1/8 on Viego; Bjergsen found a 3/0/7 score on Annie; and Doublelift and Busio went 12/0/6 on Zeri and 0/2/13 on Blitzcrank. Game 4: GG wins

Golden Guardians sent their series against 100 Thieves to a Game 5 with a 12-5 win in 25:39 in Game 4. GG's Licorice and Stixxay led in kills on their 4/2/4 Olaf and 4/1/3 Lucian; mid laner Kim "Gori" Tae-woo finished 3/1/3 on Galio; River went 0/1/11 on Wukong; and huhi added a 1/0/9 performance on Nami. Game 5: GG wins

Golden Guardians unexpectedly knocked out 100 Thieves with a 30:43 win in Game 5 in which they trailed 15-11 in kills. GG Stixxay finished 4/3/3 on Zeri, and Licorice secured a Player of the Series award with his 2/1/5 Gwen performance. In their losing effort, 100T acquired Dragon Soul and a lone tower, and 100T's Tenacity, Closer and Bjergsen went 4/2/4 on Sion, 4/2/7 on Wukong, and 4/2/8 on Taliyah respectively.
