FAQ

How to Read the StarCraft 2 Player Rankings Table

The StarCraft 2 player rankings table reflects the current competitive strength of professional players based on Strafe's performance-based Rating system.

Each entry includes:

  • Rank
  • Rating
  • Win Rate
  • Matches
  • Recent Form

These rankings measure current strength, not historical championships or legacy prestige.

Rank and Rating

In the StarCraft 2 player rankings, Rank is determined entirely by Rating. The player with the highest Rating sits at #1.

The Rating score reflects:

  • Recent match results
  • Strength of opponents
  • Consistency
  • Results over time

Recent results are weighted more heavily than older ones. Wins against stronger opponents increase Rating more than wins against lower-ranked competition.

At the top, small Rating differences are meaningful because they represent repeated results against elite opposition. Lower in the table, similar gaps may reflect smaller match samples or volatility.

These rankings represent current strength, not historical player earnings or past dominance.

Win Rate and Matches

Win Rate shows the percentage of matches won. However:

  • 75% over 8 matches ≠ 65% over 40 matches
  • Larger match counts increase reliability
  • Smaller samples can exaggerate short-term streaks

The Matches column helps contextualize a player's position in the StarCraft 2 ranking table.

Player Form (Recent Results)

Recent Form shows the last five matches.

It helps identify:

  • Short-term momentum
  • Stability or inconsistency
  • Potential upcoming movement in the rankings

Because recency is weighted in the Rating system, strong recent results can quickly impact placement.

What the Rating Score Represents

The Rating in the StarCraft 2 rankings is calculated using:

  • Recent matches
  • Strength of opponents
  • Consistency
  • Weighted recency

Players are sorted by Rating to determine Rank. If values are identical, secondary criteria may apply.

Best Players vs Most Successful Players

The strongest players in the StarCraft 2 ranking table are not automatically the ones with the highest historical prize money.

The StarCraft 2 prize money list reflects cumulative winnings. The live rankings reflect present strength.

Recent months matter more than previous seasons in a performance-based ranking.

How to Use StarCraft 2 Rankings

The StarCraft 2 player rankings help users:

  • Track player strength
  • Compare player performance trends
  • Understand momentum shifts
  • Anticipate competitive outcomes based on form and Rating

They provide structured analysis around performance, not legacy.
