Talon Esports has just announced the departure of two key members: former player Patiphan "Patiphan" Chaiwong and coach Aaron "b0i" Thao. The decision marks the end of their time with the Thai organization as Talon gears up for its 2024 campaign.

Patiphan's legacy

Patiphan, a versatile and skilled player across both Valorant and Overwatch, joined Talon Esports ahead of the 2023 season. Having first made a name for himself in professional Overwatch—where he secured multiple titles—Patiphan transitioned to Valorant in 2020. He competed with teams such as FULL SENSE and X10 Esports before briefly returning to Overwatch in 2022.

Throughout the 2023 season, Patiphan demonstrated his adaptability. Initially playing as a Duelist and Initiator for the organization, he eventually transitioned into the Controller role, showing flexibility on Talon's roster. Despite his best efforts, Talon finished the season with a 3-6 record, which led to Patiphan's announcement that he would take an indefinite break from competitive Valorant. His departure leaves a notable gap in the team, as fans continue to reminisce about his raw talent and the impact his injuries have had on his career.

Coach b0i's tenure

Aaron "b0i" Thao joined Talon Esports as a coach at the start of the 2023 season, bringing with him valuable experience from his time with organizations such as 100 Thieves, Zero MarksMen Black, TSM Academy, and Built By Gamers.

Talon showed promise in the Pacific Kickoff but fell short of expectations, exiting in the group stages. The team rebounded in Stage 1 with a 4-1 record, securing a playoff berth. However, they were knocked out by Paper Rex, the eventual champions.

While Talon would ultimately fail to reach the top three in the playoffs, their season culminated in a Champions Seoul qualification, marking their first appearance at an international event under the Talon banner.

The road ahead for Talon

As Talon Esports prepares for the upcoming season, the organization is clearly focused on evolving its strategy. The addition of primmie, who impressed fans with his breakout performance, signals the team’s commitment to nurturing new talent while remaining competitive on the international stage.

Talon’s current roster:

  • Thanamethk "Crws" Mahatthananuyut
  • Jittana "JitBoyS" Nokngam
  • Papaphat "primmie" Sriprapha
  • Joseph "ban" Seungmin Oh
  • Peter "Governor" No
  • Thanachart "Surf" Rungapajaratkul
  • Jirawat "HeadHawk" Kalumpanun (Manager)
  • Hector "FrosT" Rosario (Head Coach)

In summary, the departure of Patiphan and b0i marks the end of a chapter for Talon Esports. As the organization looks toward 2024, the focus will undoubtedly be on rebuilding and pushing the limits of their current roster. Fans will eagerly await to see how the team performs without two of its pivotal figures and whether they can continue their upward trajectory in the international Valorant scene.
