The BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 promised drama and it delivered a huge upset! Team Falcons, widely thought to be the only team able to end Vitality's dominance and win the Major title, have been eliminated by MIBR. The match, which many thought it would be just be a stepping stone for Falcons in their journey to the Grand Finals, instead turned into hard-fought and intense matchup, culminating in an unforgettable 3v5 comeback by MIBR, going into triple overtime and ultimately beating the hopes of Team Falcons.

The Fall of a Contender

Team Falcons entered the Austin Major with high expectations. Fresh off strong showings at recent tournaments, including a Grand Final appearance at IEM Melbourne and a title at PGL Bucharest, the Falcons were seen as a legitimate threat to the established elite. Their roster, bolstered by the addition of m0NESY, had consistently pushed into the top 3 at major events. Yet, their journey in Austin was anything but smooth.

After stumbling through Stage 2 with surprising losses to the underdog teams B8 and Lynn Vision Gaming, Falcons found themselves fighting for survival. They managed to edge past OG in a tense elimination match, setting up a do-or-die encounter against MIBR, who was not expected to pose a serious threat.

The best-of-three series peaking at over a million viewers between Falcons and MIBR was a rollercoaster from start to finish. Both teams traded rounds and momentum, but it was the final map that delivered one of the most electrifying finishes in recent Major history.

A Match for the Ages

With the scoreline deadlocked and both teams showing nerves of steel, the match went into triple overtime. The pressure was palpable as every round could mean elimination or moving forward. The defining moment came late in the final overtime: Falcons, holding a 5v3 advantage, seemed to be on the way to close out the round and keep their Major hopes alive but MIBR clawed their way back with a perfectly executed retake courtesy of saffee, brnz4n, and Lucaozy.

What Now?

With this result, MIBR advance to the next stage, keeping their own underdog story alive. For Team Falcons, the loss is a bitter pill to swallow. Once again, questions will inevitably be asked about their ability to deliver under pressure, especially after coming so close to glory at previous events.

Meanwhile, Team Vitality’s path to another Major title appears significantly less obstructed, with one of their main challengers gone. For fans and analysts alike, the Falcons' elimination is a stark reminder of the unpredictability and drama that make Majors so compelling.

Brazilian Teams Making Waves

Other Brazilian teams are also making a strong impression at the Austin Major 2025. Legacy stunned the viewers yesterday with a flawless 3–0 run, including a dominant win over FaZe Clan, positioning themselves as serious contenders. FURIA, after an early setback against paiN Gaming, bounced back with a decisive victory over B8 to secure their place in Stage 3.

Meanwhile, paiN Gaming has quietly advanced with a solid 3–1 record, highlighted by a crucial win over FURIA. With multiple squads thriving, Brazilian Counter-Strike is enjoying a standout Major, and all eyes are on how far this new wave of talent can go.

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
