The Tournament Format: A Test of Skill and Strategy

IEM Sydney 2023 will feature a format designed to push teams to their limits and determine the ultimate champions. The tournament kicks off with a Group Stage, consisting of two double-elimination GSL groups, each housing eight teams. The initial matches will be played as best-of-one (Bo1), but all subsequent matches will be best-of-three (Bo3). The top three teams from each group will advance to the Playoffs.

In the Playoffs, the intensity amplifies as teams battle it out in a single-elimination bracket. With all matches played as Bo3. The group stage winners secure a direct path to the Semifinals, while the runners-up and third-place teams from each group will compete in the Quarterfinals.
