Fnatic’s competitive struggles continued at the Perfect World Shanghai Major as the storied organization exited the tournament with a dismal 0-3 record. Once a powerhouse in Counter-Strike, the Swedish organization failed to win a single match in the event. Thus continuing their disappointing streak in recent years.

Fnatic’s campaign began with a narrow loss to Wildcard Gaming in their first Best-of-One match. Despite a valiant effort, the game slipped away at 11-13, setting the tone for their struggles. The following match against Cloud9 was anything but close, as the European powerhouse delivered a crushing 5-13 defeat, leaving Fnatic's hopes of advancement hanging by a thread.

Rare Atom 2-1 Fnatic

Facing Rare Atom in the elimination match, Fnatic displayed glimpses of their former glory. On their map pick, Ancient, they mounted an impressive comeback to secure their first and only map win of the tournament.

Unfortunately, that glimmer of hope was short-lived. Rare Atom rallied back on Inferno to even the series. Before obliterating Fnatic on Vertigo with a dominant 13-4 scoreline, marking their first win on home soil.

For Fnatic veteran and Counter-Strike legend Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson, this tournament marked an unprecedented low point in his storied career. It was the first Major out of the 17 that he has attended in which the Swedish star failed to win a single game. A stark reminder of the uphill battle Fnatic faces to reclaim their former glory.

Fnatic's early exit from the Shanghai Major is a stark reminder of their fall from grace in the competitive Counter-Strike scene. As they leave with a dismal 0-3 record, it’s clear that the once-mighty organization needs a thorough rework to regain its place among the elite. For now, the question looms—what’s next for Fnatic?

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
