The first update of 2025 for Counter-Strike 2 has landed, and it’s causing quite the stir. Valve rolled out a minor January 8 patch aiming to address various issues, including tweaks to weapon models and ragdoll physics. However, while fixing old problems, the update unintentionally introduced a bizarre new bug that sends character models flying through the air, sparking both amusement and frustration among the community.

The Ragdoll Bug That Took CS2 Players to New Heights

One of the patch notes mentioned fixing a “regression in grenade interactions with ragdolls.” Ironically, this fix appears to have created an even bigger issue. Players are now experiencing a comical glitch where enemies soar into the sky upon death. Reports of characters being launched into the air have flooded forums and social media, with players sharing clips of their airborne adversaries.

While the glitch has no direct impact on gameplay mechanics, it’s proving to be a visual distraction for some. Despite its disruptive nature, the ragdoll bug has become an unexpected source of entertainment for a portion of the community. But it’s a rough way for Valve to start the year.

Two for One: Weapon Inspection Delay

In addition to the ragdoll bug, the patch introduced a change to weapon inspection mechanics, which has upset long-time players. Previously, players could inspect their weapons immediately upon switching to them. Now, there’s a short delay before inspection is possible, as the weapon’s withdrawal animation must complete first.

Though minor, the delay has irked many in the CS2 community, who argue that it disrupts the smooth, tactile experience players have come to expect. Combined with the ragdoll issues, these changes have left a sour taste for some fans.

Valve’s January 8 update for CS2 is a reminder of the challenges of game development, where fixing one issue can sometimes create new ones. The ragdoll bug, though disruptive, has provided the community with moments of levity amid the frustration.

While a fix for these issues is likely just around the corner, the amusing clips circulating online ensure that this update won’t soon be forgotten.

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
