Every beginning carries within it the whisper of its eventual end, and after eight consecutive Grand Finals, FaZe Clan’s streak has finally come to an end.

Since the dawn of Counter-Strike 2, the red and black soldiers have stood tall on the battlefield. With eight Grand Finals under their belt and four victories, FaZe Clan seemed invincible. However, their narrative took an unexpected turn when Vitality ousted them in the Quarter-Finals of ESL Pro League Season 19, shattering expectations and ending a historic run.

All attended Grand Finals by FaZe Clan

  • IEM Sydney 2023 (Winner)
  • Thunderpick World Championship (Winner)
  • CS Asia Championships (Winner)
  • BLAST Premier Fall Final
  • BLAST Premier World Final
  • IEM Katowice 2023
  • PGL Major Copenhagen 2024
  • IEM Chengdu 2024 (Winner)

ZywOo dazzles and delights

The series kicked off on Nuke, FaZe Clan’s map pick, where Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut put up his best show, collecting one highlight after another.

Finn "karrigan" Andersen and his team barely managed to scramble a couple of rounds during the first half, with the French superstar styling on them and setting the stage on fire.

Although FaZe clinched the pistol round in the second half, Vitality was too far ahead to catch, eventually finishing the map 13-3.

“ZywOo” wrapped up Nuke with an impressive 18 K-D difference and a 93.8% KAST, silencing skeptics.

FaZe efforts not enough

Opposite to the first map, Vertigo witnessed a better showing from FaZe as they found their footing in the first half, winning 8-4.

Even though Vitality entered the second half stunned, FaZe's 'sloppiness' in the pistol round rolled out the red carpet to an empty bombsite. The bees (Vitality) then took advantage, and won the following rounds to tie the score back around.

Despite Robin "ropz" Kool’s heroic efforts in stopping the round streak with an incredible Ace, it wasn’t enough to take the series to a decider map.

FaZe showed rustiness towards the end of the series as they couldn’t catch up, allowing “ZywOo” a 30 bomb and ultimately putting an end to their own streak.

Moreover, Vitality could now take the lead in the Intel Grand Slam race if they manage to win EPL 19. Whereas FaZe will take flight to Dallas for Extreme Masters.

CS2 Major Revenue Share Changes Are Pushing Organizations Away from Counter-Strike

Valve’s new CS2 Major revenue share ties sticker income to VRS and final placement, removing capsule‑style payouts and concentrating money among top finishers. The result: higher volatility for clubs that relied on sticker cheques, early roster cuts like Gaimin Gladiators, and a narrower field of sustainable CS2 organizations unless the payout model changes.
