Coldzera's departure from Legacy was announced on April 19, following his benching by the organization a month prior. Notably, neither party acknowledged or shared each other's announcements, underscoring the discord between them.

In response to claims made by Legacy, the legal team representing Marcelo "coldzera" David has vehemently denied any existing contractual relationship between the player and the organization. This contradiction sets the stage for a legal battle between the renowned player and his former team.

Denial of Contractual Relationship

Coldzera's lawyer, Valentina Angeli Kalaf Mussi, issued a statement to HLTV, contesting Legacy's assertions and labeling them as misleading. The statement explicitly states that coldzera's contractual relationship with Legacy has been terminated, refuting any claims to the contrary.

“Considering the recent reports from the media, as well as the content of the email forwarded to the media and tournaments’ organizers by Mr. Américo Verde, manager and representative of Game Holding, LLC ("Legacy"), to which we gained access through third parties, in our capacity as representatives of the player Marcelo "Coldzera" David ("Player"), we hereby reiterate that the Player no longer has any contractual relation with Legacy.”

The legal team's statement cites a notification from Legacy's attorneys, dated April 19, 2024, acknowledging the termination of the player's relationship with the organization. However, the specifics of this notification remain confidential, emphasizing the sensitivity of the matter.

Potential Legal Action and Claims

Asserting coldzera's rights, the statement hints at the possibility of further legal measures against Legacy. This includes addressing breaches of confidentiality by the organization, particularly regarding the dissemination of contractual details without coldzera's consent.

"The Player reserves its right to take any further measures against Legacy through the appropriate means, including in relation to the breaches of confidentiality by Legacy, regarding the dissemination of parts of the contract to recipients unknown to the Player.”

Legacy's assertions came to light when they contacted tournament organizers, urging them not to allow coldzera to compete with his new team, RED Canids, alleging an active contract with their organization. Legacy indicated their intent to resolve the situation through legal channels, including US courts.

RED Canids' Response

In response to the legal team's statement, RED Canids' owner, Felippe Corradini, affirmed the organization's awareness of coldzera's termination with Legacy. He emphasized that coldzera's signing was in compliance with market regulations, signaling RED Canids' confidence in the legitimacy of their acquisition.

"As a representative of RED, I would like to make it clear that we have signed an athlete who is free on the market."

The dispute between coldzera and Legacy highlights the complexities of player contracts and team dynamics within the esports industry. As legal proceedings loom, the outcome will not only impact the immediate parties involved but may also set precedents for contractual disputes within the esports ecosystem.
