Ukrainian CS2 player Dmytro "Wonderful_Y" Horkusha finds himself at the center of controversy as he receives a two-year ban from FACEIT for cheating. This development comes just a day after the release of a seemingly premonitory video by Martin "STYKO" Styk, raising questions about the integrity of competitive gaming.

An Unfortunate Reality and Controversy

Just a day following the release of Martin "STYKO" Styk's video titled "The Best FACEIT Player is not who you think it is...", which featured demo reviews of Dmytro "Wonderful_Y" Horkusha, the Ukrainian player found himself facing a two-year ban for cheating on FACEIT. The timing and content of STYKO's video lend an even eerier quality to this turn of events.

The ban came only a day after the rollout of the latest update to FACEIT's anti-cheat client. The ban further unfolds within the context of another recent scandal. This one involves Alvar "consss" Rämman, a former albeit brief teammate of Wonderful_Y, who received a ban from the European Pro League 2nd Division Season 9 due to cheating allegations following a demo review in a match between The Prodigies and MOUZ NXT. The fallout from this series led to the dissolution of the player agency's academy project.

Denial, Deception and Disillusionment

Facing accusations, Wonderful_Y attempted to refute the cheating allegations. He initially attributed his actions to utilizing the sv_cheats bug. A loophole that allowed cheat-protected commands to be enabled via the console on public servers. Attempting to align his narrative with past incidents, he drew parallels between his situation. And that faced by the former Eternal Fire Academy duo, Ahmet "cyber" Akpınar and Bilgihan "Depact" Ayaz. The two players were handed 2-year bans each for using the above-mentioned exploit.

However, Wonderful_Y's defense quickly crumbled when a FACEIT employee debunked his claims. The employee clarified that all players detected for exploiting the sv_cheats bug were promptly banned when the exploit was discovered. And no new bans have been issued since then. This revelation highlighted the hollowness of Wonderful_Y's excuses.

With the truth exposed, Wonderful_Y's closing statement, "I wanted to leave anyways to irl after FACEIT season, seems it’s a good time to go," takes on a bittersweet irony. The stain of a cheating scandal now taints his aspirations to transition to real-life pursuits, marking a sobering conclusion to his esports journey.
