NRG to reportedly bench Marved for VCT Americas Stage 2
The NRG Valorant Team is reportedly making a significant change to its Valorant Champions Tour roster ahead of Stage 2 of the VCT Americas.
According to Alejandro “Anonimotum” Gomis, sources have disclosed that NRG plans to bench Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen due to recent underperformances. While NRG has yet to finalize a replacement, it appears that Marved will not be part of the starting lineup in the upcoming matches.
From Success to Uncertainty
Marved was once a key member of the successful 2022 Optic Gaming roster. But he has faced challenges in recapturing his past successes since departing from the organization. Following Optic Gaming's failure to secure a partnership spot in the new Americas League, Marved found himself without a team. Despite initially joining Sentinels in March 2023, his tenure with the team yielded underwhelming results, leading to his departure ahead of the 2024 season.
Entering 2024, NRG assembled a formidable roster featuring Ethan “Ethan” Arnold, Max “Demon1” Mazanov, and Marved. Aiming for dominance both regionally and internationally in the Valorant competitive scene.
The Superteam That Struggled
However, the team's performance has fallen short of expectations. They failed to qualify for Masters Madrid earlier in the year. And the recent inability to advance to the playoffs in VCT Americas Stage 1 have highlighted the team's underwhelming results.
Uncertain Future
Since securing a starting position with NRG at the start of 2024, Marved has experienced a journey marked by unmet expectations and disappointing outcomes. His future is now uncertain once again following NRG's decision to bench him for Stage 2 of VCT Americas. It remains to be seen where Marved will find his next opportunity in the competitive Valorant scene.
