The 2025 LEC Spring Playoffs are right around the corner as the top six teams of the Regular Season prepare to battle for the trophy starting Saturday, May 24th. There's more on the line than just regional glory, however.

The top two teams at the end of the Playoffs will also get to represent the LEC on the international stage, as they will have earned their spots at both MSI 2025 and the Esports World Cup 2025.

With so much on the line, let's go over everything the upcoming LEC Spring Playoffs have in store for us.

Teams and Format

The Playoffs will feature only the teams that finished among the top six at the end of the Regular Season. These teams are: Karmine Corp, Fnatic, Movistar KOI, G2 Esports, GIANTX, and Team Heretics.

The format for the LEC Spring Playoffs is simple. Here's exactly how it will work:

  • Double-elimination bracket
  • All matches are Bo5
  • #5 & #6 teams from the Regular Season start in the Lower Bracket
  • Fearless Draft throughout
  • Top two teams qualify for MSI 2025 and EWC 2025

Schedule and Key Dates

Follow the schedule to make sure you don't miss a second of the action at the LEC Spring Playoffs. Here's what the schedule looks like:

  • Playoffs start Saturday, May 24th with the opening matches of the Upper Bracket
  • Upper Bracket Finals take place Monday, May 26th
  • Lower Bracket kicks off Saturday, May 31st
  • Only one match will be played per day
  • All matches begin at 5 pm CET
  • The Grand Finals will crown the champions on Sunday, June 8th

Opening Matchups

The LEC Spring Playoffs will kick off in style with some banger matchups to set us off. These are:

Predictions

Who Takes Home the Trophy?

There hardly seem to be any teams more prepared to win it all at the LEC Spring Playoffs than Karmine Corp and Fnatic. On the side of Fnatic, we have a team that looks far more methodical and controlled than they have in years. Moreover, Upset is having one of the best seasons of his career, and perhaps the history of the LEC, down in the bot lane.

Karmine Corp, meanwhile, have made games look messy at times, yet always managed to come out on top when it mattered all the same, leading the squad to finish at the top of the league during the Regular Season. The amount of individual skill on the KC roster simply appears unmatched in the LEC at the moment, especially with players like Caliste putting up outlandish numbers across the board.

If they can maintain their Regular Season form throughout the Playoffs, then one of these two teams should come away with the LEC Spring 2025 trophy in the end.

The Contenders

When it comes to the LEC, you simply cannot count G2 out. Currently, the team that once dominated Europe looks to be going through an uncharacteristic slump. MSI without G2, however, would simply feel wrong. The individual skill is certainly there; if the team just manages to find a way to gel better on the Rift, then they will be a serious threat at these Playoffs.

Then we have Movistar KOI, a team that finished the Regular Season strong to remind everyone they're still a top team in the LEC. The Jojopyun experiment is yet to earn the team some silverware, and perhaps these Playoffs will offer a great chance to do so. This team is not afraid to play around in draft, and are capable of taking anyone down on a good day.

Grateful for the Experience

Tough as it may sound, the truth is that GIANTX and Team Heretics simply don't measure up to the four teams previously mentioned. GIANTX have managed to put up a solid squad, and may be able to hand out a shock or two, but will be hard-pressed to find enough answers across a Bo5 series to win when it matters.

As for Team Heretics, the team still lacks a good amount of playoff experience in crucial roles, and should look to get the most out of this chance in order to come back stronger for the Summer Season.
