VCT Masters Shanghai has been a battleground for some of the best teams in the competitive Valorant scene, and Day 3 of the Swiss Stage did not disappoint.

In a series of intense matches, Gen.G and G2 Esports emerged victorious, securing their spots in the playoffs.

Gen.G Esports 2-1 FunPlus Phoenix

The opening match of the day saw a thrilling encounter between Gen.G and FunPlus Phoenix in the High Matches of round 2.

The series was a gripping contest that extended to all three maps, with Gen.G ultimately emerging victorious. Despite the loss, FPX showcased exceptional performances, particularly from Zhang "AAAAY" Yang and Qu "Life" Donghao.

Thus proving to everyone that the Chinese teams are not to be underestimated in this tournament.

Facing FPX on their home turf proved to be an exhilarating experience for Gen.G. Byeon "Munchkin" Sang-beom shared his excitement, stating,

“For me, facing a home team and taking them down on their home turf, it just gives you an adrenaline rush. I really enjoyed it.”

G2 Esports 2-1 Team Heretics

In the second high-stakes match of the day, G2 Esports clashed with Team Heretics. Although many considered G2 the favorites, Team Heretics did not make their win easy.

Despite Dominykas "MiniBoo" Lukaševičius being absent due to personal reasons and replaced by Patryk "paTiTek" Fabrowski, Heretics delivered a commendable performance.

Moreover, the team faced additional stress regarding visa issues, which added to their challenges. But in the end, G2 managed to secure a 2-1 victory in the series, cementing their spot in the playoffs.

Reflecting on the Team Heretics' resilience, their coach Neil "neilzinho" Finlay expressed his pride, saying,

“I am extremely proud that we’re here again. We’re one of the only teams who qualified for two Masters in a row. So, whatever happens, happens. I believe in every single one of them and that we can qualify. And if we don’t, there’s no pressure.”
