The #2 European seed of Fnatic have been eliminated from Worlds 2024 following their third loss of the Swiss Stage at the hands of Weibo Gaming. Fnatic's inconsistencies shone through once again, and the team was forced to pay the ultimate price this time around.

Meanwhile, Team Liquid move on in the tournament after defeating a commendable GAM Esports that has made Vietnam proud at Worlds.

Fnatic try, but do not succeed

Fnatic shocked Weibo by punching first and claiming Game 1 of the series. Despite a great early game from Weibo, Fnatic’s scrappy mid-to-late-game was enough to see them claw their way back into the game.

Oscarinin was particularly impressive all-game long on Jax, oozing confidence on the pick following the news of his contract extension with Fnatic.

Ultimately, though, Weibo proved they were the superior team once they decided to put their gloves back on.

The remainder two games of the series were not competitive affairs whatsoever, as Weibo marched into victory in 29 and 26 minutes of play in the second and third games, respectively. Fnatic had no answer to Light's Ezreal, who put up two quadrakills on his two closing games on the champion.

With the loss, Fnatic has been eliminated from Worlds following their year-long struggles with consistency. Fnatic elimination now leaves G2 as the sole European hope remaining at Worlds 2024. Can G2 continue to carry the torch and punch their way into the Quarterfinals?

Meanwhile, Weibo Gaming leave to fight another day as they head into their final do-or-die match of the Swiss Stage at Worlds 2024.

Result: Weibo Gaming 2 - 1 Fnatic

Team Liquid toe the line against GAM

The series ended up being surprisingly similar to the Weibo vs Fnatic match. GAM caught Team Liquid by surprise with a proactive and relentless approach to Game 1 and claiming the win by sheer power of will.

Team Liquid, however, woke up just in time.

TL took full advantage of a disastrous level 1 from GAM which saw the North American side grab two quick kills and a 1k gold lead to start Game 2 of the series. From then on, TL simply never stepped off the gas, winning fight after fight on their way to evening out the series after just 24 minutes of play.

Team Liquid completed the feat by taking a scrappy third game in which GAM’s Emo played his heart out on Akali, but ultimately fell just short.

As GAM are eliminated from Worlds 2024, Team Liquid move up to a 2-2 scoreline in the Swiss Stage and will get one final chance to make it to the Quarterfinals.

Result: Team Liquid 2 - 1 GAM Esports
