No Rain, No Run: FaZe Clan Bombs Out of CS Asia Championship

After an expected run at EPL S22, FaZe Clan has gone and done it again — another unexpected run, only this time it was unexpectedly short. At the CS Asia Championship 2025, they lost to a young FUT squad, exiting the tournament with just two wins.

A Disappointing Show

FaZe Clan’s CS Asia Championship 2025 journey started with the team blowing an 11-5 lead to lose 11-13 to FUT Esports (ex-NAVI Junior squad). Many discounted the loss, however, given they had little rest after their EPL S22 games and the match being a Bo1.

In the lower bracket, their struggles did subside against B8, especially on the final map, Ancient, where FaZe won 13-5 to close the series 2-1.

Against TYLOO, FaZe once again blew a 9-4 lead to lose the first map 9-13, despite playing the favored CT-side on Nuke. But they dominated Inferno, and their solid Mirage CT side held off TYLOO, securing them another life.

FaZe once again faced FUT, who were decisively crushed by Heroic in the upper bracket. Many expected FaZe to exact revenge for their opening game loss, but FUT once again came out on top, winning the series 2-0.

Karrigan and co. did manage a comeback in the first half of Ancient, the first map, but could not close it out. Mirage was much closer, but once again FaZe failed to seal the deal, getting eliminated from the CS Asia Championship 2025.

Is jcobbb the Problem?

Apart from the first game against FUT, jcobbb has been the worst performer for FaZe Clan at the event. In their elimination game earlier today, his first kill against FUT on Ancient came in the 15th round.

But is jcobbb’s performance the reason for FaZe’s loss? Not necessarily.

With rain now gone, Twistzz and jcobbb have to play many of the positions the veteran used to. While it’s a much easier adjustment for Twistzz, for jcobbb it’s an uphill battle. Throughout the tournament, he often found himself lost in uncomfortable positions — issues that aren't always represented by the scoreboard.

That said, jcobbb still isn’t performing nearly well enough; many of his individual decisions lack the sharpness needed. Especially for a team like FaZe, the impact of every small decision is compounded, resulting in a drop in overall performance.

Moreover, there are still gaps in team play and synergy that get exposed when individuals fail to show up. These gaps need to be addressed before a final verdict on jcobbb can be made.

FaZe Clan’s next stop before the Budapest Major 2025 will be IEM Chengdu, starting November 9th. With almost 20 days to go, their performance at that event will better represent the full range of their capabilities. Worst-case scenario, FaZe can always run it back with rain for the Major and secure a solid top-four finish in Budapest.
