Virtus.Pro announced the signing of Andrey "XomA" Mironenko as head coach, replacing Dastan "dastan" Akbayev.

The update comes four days after relieving “dastan” from his duties following a series of inconsistent results with Denis "electroNic" Sharipov. Moreover, the new coach is expected to make his debut during the player break on the 17th of June.

Additionally, Pavel "PASHANOJ" Legostaev will temporarily fly to London with the team for BLAST Premier Spring Final, before “XomA” steps into his new duties.

Xoma, venturing into the unknown

“Xoma”, previously known for his roles with teams like Winstrike as an assistant coach, stepped up to lead 9 Pandas in March 2023. Under his guidance, the team fought their way to the PGL Major Copenhagen via the last-chance qualifier. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, visa complications dashed their hopes of attending the Major.

Certainly, a tall task is awaiting the new coach considering Virtus.Pro’s caliber. An aspect which CEO Nikolai Petrossian believes “XomA” will be ready for, despite lacking tier one experience.

“Andrey’s vision of the game is up-to-date. Through his work, he has earned the chance at the tier-1 level, and we are ready to give him the opportunity to prove himself. He is prepared for this challenge." - Nikolai Petrossian via Virtus.Pro’s website.

"Our roster needs a fresh perspective on the game and assistance in updating our playbook to ensure that we meet the current meta and are prepared to outplay any opponents, regardless of external factors. Moreover, the new coach will need to nurture stability within the team dynamics and develop a system of play where our stars can maximize their strengths.”

Andrey, with appreciation to the opportunity, thanked the organization as he strives to bring results.

“I want to thank the organization and the team for giving me this opportunity. We will strive to delight you with stable results. Cheer for us!" - XomA

"It is a great honor for me to join the legendary club and work with such an incredible team. We are soon approaching a players break, during which we will have to tackle a serious task: to find more points of contact and ideas to make our game more stable and show high results in a very demanding schedule.”

Finally, XomA’s first appearance on stage will be in Riyadh for the Esports World Cup starting the 17th of July up until the 21st.
